Bettie A Odle (Lebanon)'s Obituary
Bettie Alma Odle, daughter of Harley and Thelma Wolken Vaughn, was born April 11, 1939, near Sleeper, Missouri. She departed this life Monday, June 24, 2019, in Mercy Hospital, in Springfield, Missouri, at the age of eighty years, two months, and thirteen days.
She was preceded in death by her parents; her husband, Melvin Ross; two daughters, Mary and Melanie Ross; a son, Reggie Markel; a great-grandson, Riley Gerber; two brothers, Harley and George Vaughn; and three sisters, Sheila and Stephanie Vaughn, and Mary Piercy.
Bettie is survived by two daughters, Teresa Dinwiddie, and her husband, Danny, of Niangua, Missouri, and Tammy Trandum, of Camdenton, Missouri; a daughter-in-law, Jan Markel, of Lebanon, Missouri; six grandchildren, Donald Markel, Jennifer Chambers, Gina Devine, Robert Markel, Matthew Trandum, and Tanner Odle; seven great-grandchildren; a brother, Harley “Bud” Vaughn, of Lebanon, Missouri; a sister, Thelma Dame, of Lebanon, Missouri; a sister-in-law, Velma Knudson, Akron, Iowa; several nieces and nephews; as well as a host of other relatives and a few special friends.
She was raised in the Lebanon, Missouri area and graduated from Lebanon High School. She then attended St. John’s School of Nursing in Springfield for one year. Except for the ten years she lived in South Dakota, most of her life was lived in the Lebanon area. She worked for the H. D. Lee Company for nearly thirty-years, and was also a devoted homemaker to her family.
Bettie had made her profession of faith in Christ and was a member of the Phillipsburg Christian Church for many years.
She was an amazing cook and enjoyed making special meals for her family. She was an avid reader and liked to travel. She grew beautiful flowers, enjoyed camping and fishing in her spare time. She cared about animals and particularly her two dogs, “Alex” and “ZZ”. She loved her family dearly and especially her grandchildren and great-grandchildren.
Bettie was a loving mother, grandmother, great-grandmother, sister, aunt, and was a caring neighbor and friend. We celebrate her life and know that her family and friends will cherish the wonderful memories she created for them during her lifetime.
Memorial donations may be made to Dotson Cemetery or Claws and Paws and left at the funeral home.
