Betty Ann Hembree's Obituary
etty Ann Hembree, daughter of Kenneth Leroy and Lelah Naomi Conn Schwartz, was born July 10, 1930, in Sioux City, Iowa. She departed this life Thursday, February 14, 2008, in Manor Care Nursing Home, in Springfield, Missouri, at the age of seventy-seven years, seven months and four days. On December 18, 1949, she was united in marriage to Roy Lee Hembree at her parents’ home in Wright County, and they celebrated their Golden Wedding Anniversary in 1999 at their home in Springfield. She was preceded in death by her parents and her brother, Dale Schwartz. Betty is survived by her loving husband, Roy Lee, of Springfield, Missouri; one son, Russell, of Jefferson City, Missouri; two grandsons, Brad Hembree, of Albuquerque, New Mexico, and Matt Hembree, of Columbia, Missouri; her twin sister, Bonnie Jo Wood, of Springfield, Missouri; an aunt, Lois Wagner, of the State of Minnesota; a number of nieces and nephews; as well as a host of other relatives and friends. She attended Hartville public schools, graduating from Hartville High School in May of 1948. After she and Roy were married, they made their home in the Wright County area, where she worked at the Grovespring Farmer’s Exchange, the Wright County Extension Office, the Agricultural Stabilization and Conservation Service (ASCS) office in Hartville, and UnionGas Propane. For many years she was the cashier for the Hembree Auction Service. Betty had professed her faith in Christ, and was a member of Little Creek Baptist Church. She centered her life around her family and caring for them. Betty was a loving wife, mother, grandmother, sister, and aunt, and was a caring neighbor and friend. She will be greatly missed and will forever live in our hearts. We celebrate her life and treasure the wonderful memories she created for her family and friends. Services will be held at 10:30 a.m. Monday, February 18, 2008, in the Little Creek Baptist Church. Burial will be in the Little Creek Cemetery. Visitation will be held Monday morning from 10:00 a.m. until service time, in the church. Services are under the direction of Holman-Howe Funeral Home of Hartville, Missouri. Return to top
