Betty J. Best (Lebanon)'s Obituary
Betty June Best, daughter of Frank and Louise Birthright Meachum, was born April 13, 1938, in Lebanon, Missouri. She departed this life Sunday, October 25, 2020, in Lebanon South Nursing and Rehabilitation Center, in Lebanon, Missouri, at the age of eighty-two years, six months, and twelve days.
In June of 1987, she was united in marriage to Robert Best, and they shared thirty years before his passing on April 5, 2017.
She was also preceded in death by her son, Dwayne La Porter; her daughter, Kelley Smith; her parents; five brothers, Bob, Ken, Phil, Ernie and Bill Meachum; and a sister, Thelma Roper.
Betty is survived by two daughters, Twanya Farmer, of Lebanon, Missouri, and Rita Lewis, of Orlando, Florida; a son, Otis Nichols, of Lebanon, Missouri; a number of grandchildren and great-grandchildren; two sisters, Oretha Joubert, and Kathleen Nobles, both of Lebanon, Missouri; several nieces and nephews; as well as a host of other relatives and friends.
She was born and raised in Lebanon, Missouri, and graduated from Lebanon High School. She was a devoted homemaker to her family throughout the years, and also worked for the Missouri Employment Security office in Lebanon for twenty-eight years. Since retiring, she had moved to Florida, but returned recently to Lebanon.
Betty was an active member of Mount Lebanon United Methodist Church in Lebanon for many years, and had served as church secretary.
In her spare time she enjoyed baking and loved music and dancing. She had a delightful sense of humor and liked to laugh and joke around. Her family was very important to her and she especially enjoyed her grandchildren and great-grandchildren.
Betty was a loving mother, grandmother, great-grandmother, sister, aunt, and was a caring friend. We celebrate her life and know that her family and friends will hold tight to the wonderful memories she created for them during her lifetime.
Services will be held privately for Betty Best. Friends may call and pay their respects at the funeral home.
