Betty Blakely's Obituary
Betty Eileen Blakely, daughter of James and Celia Breir Barrett, was born June 21, 1920, in Lincoln, Kansas. She departed this life Sunday, January 11, 2009, in Baldwin Health Care and Rehab Center, in Baldwin, Kansas, at the age of eighty-eight years, six months, and twenty days. In 1953, she was united in marriage to Ralph W. Blakely, who passed away on June 26, 1971. Her parents also preceded her in death. Betty is survived by a brother, A.J. Barrett, and his wife, Lou, of Baldwin City, Kansas; a nephew, James Barrett; two nieces, Carol Lauber and Linda Kay Wilkerson; several great-nieces and great-nephews; as well as a host of other relatives and friends. She was born and raised in the Lincoln, Kansas area. After she and Ralph were married, they made their home in Lebanon, Missouri. Betty attended a cosmetology college and earned her state cosmetology license. In addition to being a devoted homemaker to her husband, Betty also owned and operated a beauty salon in Lebanon for a number of years. Betty was a member of St. Francis DeSales Catholic Church in Lebanon. In her spare time she enjoyed knitting and also liked visiting with her family and friends. Betty will be fondly remembered and greatly missed by all of her family and many friends. Graveside services will be held at 2:00 pm on Thursday January 14, 2009 at the Lebanon Cemetery.Friends may call at the funeral home at their convenience under the direction of the Holman-Howe Funeral Home Lebanon, Missouri.
