Betty Blasingame (Bolivar)'s Obituary
On Friday, January 06, 2017, Betty entered eternal rest in the arms of Jesus her Savior.
Betty Jean (Questa) Blasingame was born July 16, 1930 in St. Louis, Missouri to Louis and Minerva Questa. Betty lived 84 years in St. Louis, Missouri, before moving to Bolivar, MO in 2015.
She was baptized into faith at Holy Cross Lutheran Church and she attended their K-8 grade school where she was confirmed on April 2, 1944 then graduated that June. She then attended Roosevelt High School and graduated in 1949. Betty met the love of her life, Bob Blasingame in 1945 and they were married at Holy Cross Lutheran Church on July 2, 1949. To this union, three daughters were born, Linda, Joy and Denise. Bob and Betty were married 56 years until his passing. Betty was active in her daughters' lives as a Girl Scout Leader and room mother. Besides being a wonderful mom her careers consisted of being a switchboard operator, bookkeeper, receptionist and an electroencephalogram/electrocardiogram technician at Lutheran Hospitaland Normandy South now Des Peres Hospital. She retired from this career in December 1992. Betty enjoyed going out to eat, playing board games, puzzles, musicals and music from the 1940-1950's. She loved fishing with dad, sunsets on the beach and being outside enjoying nature. Whenever we visited her in St. Louis there had to be restaurant trips to Hodak's and White Castle. She would like to visit the "old neighborhood" and get cookies at Dad's Cookie Company. Betty enjoyed spending time with family and friends. A highlight of her life at age 84 was riding with her nephew on his Harley-Davison Motorcycle. She had a special place in her heart for her God Children, Betty and Jim. Jim, her Godson, was faithful in visiting her even when she moved from St. Louis to Bolivar. Those visits meant so much to her. Before Bob's passing she and Bob enjoyed traveling together across the USA. They spent winter months in Florida and had many friends at Indian Rocks Travel Park. After dad passed a special couple, Lindy and Dana, included mom in their activities and helped her when she needed things fixed at her Florida home.
Betty loved people and celebrating life every day. She had an infectious laugh and made many
people smile. She and Bob enjoyed spending time with their Peace Lutheran Friday night group
where they would go out to eat and play cards and just have a great night laughing together.
Thanks to Fred and June mom continued with this group after dad passed. A woman of deep, devout faith and unconditional love, Betty was a lifelong Lutheran participating in many activities and volunteering her time at Holy Cross, Peace Lutheran Churches in St. Louis, Christ the King in Largo, Florida, and Zion Lutheran, Bolivar.
