Betty Cassel's Obituary
Betty Jean Cassel passed away on May 28, 2009 at Northwood Hills Care Center. She is survived by her daughter, Rita Fleischer of California, son, Paul Cassell, Jr. of Mississippi and daughter, Sheila Robins of Missouri. She is also survived by her former husband and the father of her children, Paul E. Cassel, Sr., her beloved twelve grandchildren and thirteen great grandchildren. She was born in Byers, Colorado, in a family of eight brothers and sisters who all worked on the family farm. Betty was the wife of a Continental Airlines captain and traveled to many exotic locations throughout the 1950’s and 60’s. She visited Europe and the Scandinavian countries during this time and also met many celebrities, such as Cesar Romero and other stars and entertainers of her era. Betty was a creative person who painted and exhibited a talent for art projects such as stained glass work. She and her husband, Paul, also self published an anthology of Continental Airlines pilots and history which was presented to Robert Six, President of the airline at that time. During this time she joined a stage production in which she sang in the chorus. In February 1997 she participated in the Ms. Senior Arizona beauty pageant which involved singing and runway modeling of fashions. For several years Betty resided in Gold River, California and moved to Prescott, Arizona, later in life. Four years ago she retired to Missouri from Arizona to be near her family. The family is honoring Betty’s requests regarding burial arrangements. She always loved to entertain, so in her honor on June 13, 2009, we will be having the service and celebrating her life and all the things she meant to her family and friends at her home. For all those who knew her, please light a candle and say a prayer in her memory. Arrangements are under the care and direction of the Butler Funeral Home in Bolivar, Missouri.
