Betty Cureton's Obituary
Betty Ruth Cureton, daughter of Clinton Newell and Daisy Loretta (Delcour) Ward, was born April 19, 1948, near Hartville, Missouri. She departed this life Tuesday, May 1, 2007, in Cox Medical Center, South, in Springfield, Missouri, at the age of fifty-nine years, and eleven days. On April 7, 1969 she was united in marriage to Lonnie Cureton and to this union four daughters were born. She was preceded in death by her parents; three brothers, Lawrence and Robert Ward, an infant, Jesse Dean Ward; and an infant sister, Silvia Mary Ward. Betty is survived by four daughters, Tina Hooker, and her husband, Tony, Misty Amason, and her late husband, Rick, Shelly Kuhn, and her husband, Rick, Heather Claborn, and her husband, Jason, all of Hartville, Missouri; eight grandchildren, Megan Hooker, Brenna Amason, Donnavon Cureton, Rashanda Cureton, Samantha Kuhn, Amanda Ward, Jerra Cureton, and Jeremiah Claborn; seven step-grandchildren, Breezy Rogers, Ricky Amason II, Jasmine Amason, Jacob Claborn, Alesha, Kevin, and Nick Kuhn; the long time love of her life, Lonnie Cureton, of Hartville, Missouri; four sisters, Lois Moore, and her husband, Charles, of Phillipsburg, Missouri, Lola Weaver, and her husband, Everett, of Springfield, Missouri, Lisa Dugger, and her husband, Larry, and Vicki Calton, and her husband, Sonny, all of Hartville, Missouri; three brothers, Clinton Ward, Jr. and his wife, Charlotte, Jim Ward, and his wife, Bonnie, all of Hartville, Missouri, and Leon Ward, and his wife, Brenda, of Nixa, Missouri; a number of nieces and nephews; as well as a host of other relatives and friends. She was born and raised north east of Hartville and graduated from Hartville High School. After she met and married Lonnie they moved to Lebanon and later to Springfield, and then moved back to Hartville. She worked several years at Tobin-Hamilton, in Mansfield and also operated Heavenly Hash Café in Hartville. Betty had made her profession of faith in Christ and was a member of the Little Country Church. She had also formerly attended the Sunshine Church, where she was the youth leader. She centered her life around her family and loved baby sitting and giving advice. She had a big heart and was always willing to help everyone in need. In her spare time she enjoyed making beautiful quilts, singing karaoke, and was a wonderful cook. Betty was a loving mother, grandmother, sister, and aunt and was a caring neighbor and friend. We celebrate her life and accomplishments and will cherish the wonderful memories she has created for her family and friends. Services will be held at 10:00 a.m. Friday, May 4, 2007, in the Holman-Howe Funeral Home, Hartville. Burial will be in Little Creek Cemetery, north of Hartville. Visitation will be held Thursday evening from 7 - 8:30 p.m. under the direction of Holman-Howe Funeral Home of Hartville, Missouri. Memorials may be made through the funeral home.
