Betty Davis' Obituary
Betty B. Davis, daughter of Daniel Roy and Mary (McCumber) Stockstill, was born June 15, 1929 in Branson, Missouri. She departed this life Tuesday, April 28, 2009 in Rocky Ridge Manor, in Mansfield, Missouri, at the age of seventy-nine years, ten months, and thirteen days. On October 17, 1953 she was united in marriage to George Davis and to this union one son and two daughters were born.
She was preceded in death by her parents; five brothers, Tom, Ed, Harry, Mack and Bob Stockstill; and one sister, Jane Jacobson.
Betty is survived by her loving husband of fifty-five years, George, of Mansfield, Missouri; two daughters, Mary Reade, of Springfield, Missouri, and Sandra DeWilligen, and her husband, Bill, of Floyd’s Knobs, Indiana; a son, John Davis, and his wife, Tammy, of Raytown, Missouri; sixteen grandchildren; two great-grandchildren; a brother, Earl Stockstill, and his wife, Norma, of Republic, Missouri; four sisters, Dorothy Collins, of Bartlesville, Oklahoma, Jean Denham, and her husband, Jim, of Raytown, Missouri, Helen Jamison, of Grandview, Missouri, and Julia Gage, and her husband, Kerry, of Humboldt, Kansas; a number of nieces and nephews; as well as a host of other relatives and many dear friends.
She was born and raised in Branson and graduated from Branson High School in the class of 1947. She then moved to Kansas City where she met and married George. Besides being a devoted homemaker she also worked for General Service Administration in Kansas City for over twenty years before moving to Mansfield in 1991.
Betty had made her profession of faith in Christ and was a member of the Mansfield First Baptist Church.
In her spare time she enjoyed needlework and loved growing beautiful flowers.
Betty was a loving wife, mother, grandmother, great-grandmother, sister, and aunt and was a caring neighbor and friend. We celebrate her life and many accomplishments and will cherish the wonderful memories she has created for her family and friends.
Services will be 1:00 P.M., Friday, May 1, 2009, in Holman-Howe Chapel, of Mansfield, Missouri with burial in Pleasant Hill Cemetery. Visitation will be 6:00-7:00 P.M. Thursday in the funeral home.
