Betty Good's Obituary
Betty Good was born February 12, 1930 in Seymour, Missouri. She departed this life Friday, March 13, 2009, in Cox Medical Center South, in Springfield, Missouri, at the age of seventy-nine years, one month, and one day. On October 14, 1946 she was united in marriage to George Aaron Good, Sr., and to this union one daughter and two sons were born. She was preceded in death by her mother, Virgie Peters; her grandparents, who raised her, Minnie and Elijah Peters; a son, George A. “Pete” Good; a grandson, Kevin Dale Cantrell; and two sisters, Peggy Hunt, and Jane Dupree. Betty is survived by her loving husband of almost sixty-three years, George, of the home; a daughter, Diane Cantrell, and her special friend, Mark Farrell, of Fordland, Missouri; a son, David Lee Good, and his wife, Sue, of Sweet Springs, Missouri; five grandchildren, Cindy Franks, and her husband, Robert, Amanda Good, Jonathan Good, Darin Cantrell, and his wife, Bridgett, and Lori Strong; eight great-grandchildren, Erica, Heather, Ashley, Melonie, Kaleb, Kleo, Emileigh, and Abigail; one great-great grandson, Chaz; a sister-in-law, Daisy Millsap, and her husband, Gerald, of Lebanon, Missouri; a brother-in-law, Jack Good, and his wife, Gracie, of Point Blank, Texas; a number of nieces and nephews; as well as a host of other relatives and many dear friends. She was born and grew up in Seymour, Missouri. In 1972 she and George moved to Houston, Texas for a few years before moving to Republic, Missouri. Then in 1988 they returned to Seymour to make their home. She owned and operated Miller’s Café and Skyline Café in Seymour for many years. She and George also owned Good’s Tire and Wheel Service in Seymour, where she helped with bookkeeping. She had worked at Tobin-Hamilton Shoe Factory in Mansfield and the H.D. Lee Company in Seymour, and also as a cashier for Ramey’s Supermarket and Casey’s General Store in Seymour. Betty had made her profession of faith in Christ and attended the Seymour Free Will Baptist Church. She loved spending time with her family, especially her grandchildren, and in her spare time she enjoyed gardening and cooking for family and friends. Betty was a loving wife, mother, grandmother, great-grandmother, great-great grandmother, and aunt, and was a caring neighbor and friend. We celebrate her life and many accomplishments and will cherish the wonderful memories she has created for her family and friends. Services will be held at 2:00 pm on Tuesday March 17, 2009 at Holman-Howe Funeral Home Seymour. Burial will be in Liberty Cemetery. Visitation is Monday evening 7-8:00 pm at the funeral home under the direction of the Holman-Howe Funeral Home Seymour, Missouri. Return to top
