Betty Hilliard (Mansfield)'s Obituary
Betty Lou Hilliard, daughter of George and Verna Moore Farris, was born September 30, 1938 in Douglas County, Missouri and departed this life on April 4, 2015 in her home in Mansfield, Missouri at the age of seventy-six years, six months and four days.
On November 26, 1957 she was united in marriage to Kenneth Hilliard and to this union three children were born.
She was preceded in death by her parents; a grandson, Michael Moody; two brothers, Junior Farris and Clarence Farris; four sisters, Ida Mae Pastian, Ellen Seal, Dorothy Farris and an infant sister.
Betty is survived by her husband, Kenneth of the home; daughter, Donna Moody and husband, Dwayne of Seymour, Missouri; two sons, Terry Hilliard and wife, Renee of Alpine, Arizona and Lonnie Hilliard and wife, Vickie of Hartville, Missouri; seven grandchildren, Michelle Porter and husband, Michael, Sarah Ali and husband, Ty, Hollie Miller and husband, Zach, Lance Hilliard and wife, Colette, Jason Hilliard, Travis Hilliard and wife, Mindy, and Ryan Hilliard; thirteen great-grandchildren; two sisters, Lucille Welch and husband, Jim and Ethel Goss as well as several nieces, nephews, other relatives, and many friends.
She was born in Douglas County where she attended Mountainside School and Ava High School. She moved to Idaho at age 16. After getting married and starting her family, she picked fruit, worked seasonal jobs and also worked for the Ore-Ida company while living in Idaho. Betty and Ken moved to Mansfield in 1973 and she went to work at the H.D. Lee Factory in Hartville and worked for several years at Glenwood Healthcare in Seymour before retiring.
Betty was saved and Baptized at an early age and had attended Glad Hill Church.
In her spare time, Betty enjoyed playing cards, board games, going to auctions and garage sales, and gardening. She was a big St. Louis Cardinals fan and enjoyed listening to bluegrass and gospel music. All of these things brought her great joy, but not nearly as much as spending time with her family, especially her grandchildren and great-grandchildren.
Betty was a loving wife, mother, grandmother, great-grandmother, sister, aunt, and a caring neighbor and friend. We celebrate her life and accomplishments and we will always cherish the many great times we had together.
