Betty Hodge's Obituary
Betty Lou Hodge, daughter of Cecil and Genevieve Mosier Bryant, was born April 18, 1933, near Eldridge, Missouri. She departed this life Thursday, June 4, 2009, in St. John’s Hospital, in Lebanon, Missouri, at the age of seventy-six years, one month, and twenty-six days. On June 22, 1952, she was united in marriage to William Joseph “Bill” Hodge, and to this union one daughter was born. She was preceded in death by her parents; and two brothers, Jack D. Bryant, and an infant. Betty is survived by her husband, Bill, of the home; a daughter, Pamela Sue Neece, and her husband, Scott, of Lebanon, Missouri; three sisters, Jewel Dutton, of Lebanon, Missouri, Mary Jane Wolf, and Janice Soncarty, both of Bettendorf, Iowa; several nieces and nephews; as well as a host of other relatives and friends. She was born and raised in the Eldridge community, and attended Lebanon R-III Schools. She and Bill were high school sweethearts and married in 1952. Betty worked for the H. D. Lee Company for a few years when she was a young lady. In 1955, she and Bill moved to Iowa where they made their home for the next thirty-five years. Betty worked for the Devonshire Company for a few years, but spent most of her life being a devoted homemaker to her husband and daughter. In 1990, the family moved to the Lebanon area and made their home. Betty was an active member of First Assembly of God in Bettendorf, Iowa, where she was a Sunday school teacher and was involved in the women’s ministry. After moving back to Missouri, she transferred her membership to the Eldridge Full Gospel Church. In her spare time, Betty enjoyed gardening and growing beautiful flowers. She liked spending time with her family and especially her daughter, who was her pride and joy. Betty was a loving wife, mother, sister, and aunt, and was a caring neighbor and friend. We celebrate her life and will remember her as a gracious Christian lady who created many wonderful memories for her family and friends. Services will be held at 10:30 am on Saturday June 6, 2009 at the Holman-Howe Funeral Home. Burial will be in Mt. Rose Memorial Park. Visitation is Friday evening 7-8:30 pm at the funeral home under the direction of the Holman-Howe Funeral Home Lebanon, Missouri. Return to top
