Betty Darleen Howard (Lebanon)'s Obituary
Betty Darleen Howard, daughter of James Ashley and Bertha Guffey Lockhart, was born March 20, 1930, in Blackwell, Oklahoma. She departed this life Wednesday, August 8, 2018, in her home, near Lebanon, Missouri, at the age of eighty-eight years, four months, and eighteen days.
She was preceded in death by her parents; three brothers, Clyde, James, and an infant; and a sister, Mary Belle.
Betty is survived by a daughter, Darleen Belle Trapani, and her husband, Joseph, of Lebanon, Missouri; seven grandchildren; a number of great-grandchildren; a brother, Bobby R. Howard, of Palm Dale, California; a sister, Jewell Hensman, of LaPuente, California; several nieces and nephews; as well as a host of other relatives and friends.
She was raised in California and lived most of her life there. She was a member of a band called "Oklahoma Kids" and played the bass guitar. In addition to being a devoted homemaker to her family, Betty worked as the security supervisor for Prudential Life Insurance Company in California for several years. She lived in Las Vegas, Nevada for a time and moved to Lebanon in 2011 to be with her daughter.
Betty had her own spiritual faith. She loved ballroom dancing. Music was always central in her life and she had even taught music at one time. She loved her family dearly and especially enjoyed having time with her grandchildren and great-grandchildren.
Betty was a loving mother, grandmother, great-grandmother, sister, aunt, and was a caring neighbor and friend. We celebrate her life and know that her family and friends will cherish the wonderful memories she created for them during her eighty-eight years.
Arrangements are under the care and direction of Holman-Howe Funeral Home of Lebanon, but no services are planned at this time.
