Betty J. Howerton (Buffalo)'s Obituary
Betty June (Dill) Howerton was born June 5, 1931, to Oscar and Lettie (Stafford) Dill in Elkland, MO. She departed this life December 6, 2023, at the age of 92 years, 6 months, and 1 day. The family attended Center Point Baptist Church where Betty was saved as a youth. Betty graduated Buffalo High School in 1949 and on September 1, 1950, married Robert (Bob) Howerton in Aldrich, MO. In 1952, the couple moved to Kansas City, MO. She was a wonderful homemaker as well as working in the corporate world. Betty retired from Waddell & Reed in 1989 where she served as their Corporate Librarian at their Crown Center office. Bob and Betty lived and raised their family in the Odessa, MO area until they retired to Dallas County in 1989 purchasing their home on the Niangua River. Betty enjoyed designing and making numerous outfits, as well as, elaborate bridal gowns for each of her four daughters.
Her husband of 73 years preceded her in death on October 29, 2023.
She is survived by four daughters, Pam and Warren Louderbaugh, Buffalo, MO; Kayla and Don Robbs, Gaffney, SC; Gina Hohensee, Buffalo, MO; and Joy and Steve Schuelke, Buffalo, MO. She is also survived by grandchildren Mark and Cybil Louderbaugh, Brett and Aelicia Louderbaugh, Jennifer (Teichman) and Jerr Kerr, Brent and Molly Teichman, Amy Dawn Sanders, deceased; Curt and Missy Darnell, Brook (Louderbaugh) and Michael Jones, Matthew and Breann Darnell, Melanie (Darnell) and Eddie Varner, Melody (Hohensee) and Lewis Ownby, and Robert and Ashton Hohensee, 22 Great grandchildren, four Great-great grandchildren, two sisters-in-law Karen (Howerton) Carney of Bartlesville, OK, and Kathleen Dill, Elkland, MO and many nieces and nephews.
She was also preceded in death by siblings Phyllis Sweeney, Wilma Richardson, Pansy Cyrus, Dale Dill and Leon Dill.
Visitation with the family will be Saturday, December 9, 2023 at 10:00 a.m. with funeral services following at 11:00 a.m. The family requests memorial contributions be made to your favorite charity or to the Macedonia Cemetery fund or Center Point Cemetery fund. Funeral services will be under the direction of the Cantlon Otterness & Viets Funeral Home with interment in the Macedonia Cemetery.
