Betty Hughes (Lebanon)'s Obituary
Betty May Hughes, daughter of Marvin Benjamin and Maudie Katherine Varner Hainline, was born February 23, 1949, in Lebanon, Missouri. She departed this life Tuesday, July 7, 2020, in Lebanon South Nursing and Rehabilitation Center, in Lebanon, Missouri, at the age of seventy-one years, four months, and fourteen days.
She was preceded in death by her ex-husband Charles Hughes; her parents; three brothers, Billy Ray Hainline, John Henry Ray and Samuel Milton Varner; and a sister, Gladys Penny.
Betty is survived by a brother, Willis Dean Hainline, and his wife, Sandra, of Long Lane, Missouri; two sisters, Annie Crossland, and Margarette Dinwiddie, and her husband, Dennis, all of Long Lane, Missouri; several nieces and nephews; her companion, Charles Lee Starnes, of Lebanon, Missouri; special friends, Barbara and Johnny Williams, Carol Decker and Mary Decker; as well as a host of other relatives and friends.
She was raised in the Niangua area and then moved to Buffalo, Missouri. She later made her home near Waynesville, Missouri for a number of years. She was a devoted homemaker and also worked as a cook and waitress at various restaurants in the area.
Betty had made her profession of faith in Christ and was a member of Friendship Baptist Church in Pulaski County, Missouri.
In her spare time she enjoyed quilting, working puzzle games, and painting pictures. She was a very friendly person who liked spending time with her family and friends.
Betty was a loving sister, aunt, and was a caring friend. We celebrate her life and know that her family and friends will hold tight to the wonderful memories she made for them during her lifetime.
Funeral services will be Friday, July 10 at 11 a.m. at Holman-Howe Funeral Home in Lebanon. Visitation will be one hour prior to the service. Burial will be in New Home Cemetery near Falcon, Missouri.
A memorial has been established to the American Cancer Society.
