Betty J. Davis (Lebanon)'s Obituary
Betty Jean Davis, daughter of William Floyd and Laura Katherine Caviness Hopkins, was born December 6, 1928, near Linn Creek, in Camden County, Missouri. She departed this life Tuesday, September 28, 2010, in Christian Health Care South, in Lebanon, Missouri, at the age of eighty-one years, nine months, and twenty-two days.
On July 4, 1950, she was united in marriage to James Carl Davis, and to this union one son was born.
She was preceded in death by her parents; her husband, James, on November 4, 2007; and an infant sister.
Betty is survived by a son, Jim Davis, and his wife, Vickie, of Lebanon, Missouri; a granddaughter, Heather Bryant, and her husband, John, of Lebanon, Missouri; a grandson, Ryan Davis, and his wife, Courtney, of Ozark, Missouri; two great-grandchildren, Aidan and Tucker Davis; a brother, Jack Hopkins, and his wife, Ellen, of Lebanon, Missouri; two sisters, Shirley Burris, and her husband, Duane, and Barbara Q’Quinn, and her husband, Nick, all of Lebanon, Missouri; several nieces and nephews; as well as a host of other relatives and friends.
She was born and raised in the Linn Creek area, in Camden County, Missouri. After she and James were married, they made their home in the Lebanon area, in Laclede County. In addition to being a devoted homemaker and mother, Betty also worked at the H. D. Lee Company for a short time, and then was employed by M.F.A. Grocery for several years. She had also worked in the antique business for a number of years.
Betty was a member of First United Methodist Church in Lebanon.
She liked antiques of all kinds, but was particularly fond of glassware and furniture pieces. She enjoyed refinishing furniture and returning them to their former glory. She also was an avid reader. Her family was very important to her and she was especially proud of her son and grandchildren.
Betty was a loving mother, grandmother, great-grandmother, sister, and aunt, and was a caring neighbor and friend. We celebrate her life and her accomplishments and will cherish the wonderful memories she created for her family and friends.
