Betty Jo McNish-Lewis (Seymour)'s Obituary
Betty Jo McNish-Lewis, age 74 of Ash Grove, Missouri passed away Wednesday, December 19, 2018 at Ash Grove Healthcare Facility following a lengthy illness. She was born Wednesday April 19, 1944 in Diggins, Missouri to William Walter McNish and Jessie Josephine (Young) McNish, one of their eight children. She was raised in the Diggins and Fordland area and had attended Ava Assembly of God Church. While raising her family she led in 4-H, served over 20 years in the United States Naval Reserves, worked and retired from the unemployment office in Springfield MO, attended Missouri State University and graduated with a Bachelor degree in social work where she then went on to work as a social worker in the mental health field.
Betty enjoyed her children, grandchildren and great grandchildren so much and they each have special memories with her. Trail riding, camping and fishing, bike riding, Birdwatching, collecting books, reading and learning new things, enjoying wildlife and wildflowers, collecting arrowheads, going to yard sales, listening to southern gospel music, Elvis Presley, and an affinity for Four Leaf Clovers are the things her family remembers her loving.
Surviving Betty is 3 daughters Becky Stiles of Battlefield, MO, Debby & Reg Silva of West Plains, MO, Cheryl Hirsch of West Plains, MO; 4 sisters Wanda Mondy and husband Bob of Battlefield, MO, Alverta Dishman of Marshfield, MO, Kay Stoll and husband Sam of Fordland, MO, Connie Gann and husband Mark of Rogersville, MO; 2 brothers Darrell McNish and wife Vonna of Fordland, MO, Mike McNish and wife Debbie of Seymour, MO; 1 sister-in-law Sandra McNish of Buffalo, MO; 9 grandchildren Beth LaRose and husband Ed, Desiree Thiebeault and husband Skyler, Jessie Hammons and husband David, Brooke Sartin and husband Cody, Amber Brawley, Christopher Hirsch, Jaycee Herd, Angel Hirsch, Brandon Hirsch; 6 great grandchildren August LaRose, William LaRose, Karma Smith, Amara Thiebeault, Preston Sartin and Jed Newberry.
She was preceded in death by her parents, her 1st husband Jimmie Hyder, her 2nd husband Leland “Butch” Lewis, a brother William McNish, a brother-in-law JR Dishman, and two grandsons David Parkhurst and Bobby Parkhurst.
