Betty Kelsey's Obituary
Betty Lee Kelsey, daughter of Edgar H. and Ethel Baker Phipps, was born February 7, 1927, near Collins, Missouri. She departed this life Monday, February 19, 2007, in St. John’s Hospital, in Lebanon, Missouri, at the age of eighty years, and twelve days. On September 15, 1950, she was united in marriage to Harold O. Kelsey, and to this union one son was born. Her parents and an infant brother preceded her in death. Betty is survived by her husband of fifty-six years, Harold, of the home; a son, Larry Kelsey, and his wife, Debra, of Columbus, Nebraska; two grandchildren, Heather Pieckonka and Christopher Jensen; a brother, Curtis Phipps, of Mistletoe, Texas; a sister, Doris Dean, and her husband, Jim, of Nevada, Missouri; a number of nieces and nephews; as well as a host of other relatives and friends. She was born and raised in the Nevada, Missouri area and graduated from high school. After she and Harold were married, they made their home in Grand Island, Nebraska for several years. During this time, Betty was a devoted homemaker and loving mother, and also worked as a sales clerk for the Safeway Store. Later, Betty and Harold moved to St. Louis, Missouri where they lived for six years. When they retired, they moved to Lebanon, Missouri and made their home. Betty had made her profession of faith in Christ and was a member of Union Mission Church in Lebanon. In her spare time she enjoyed working crossword puzzles and had framed some of the more unusual ones. She also liked growing beautiful flowers and especially roses. Her family was always most important in her life and she especially enjoyed her grandchildren. Betty was a loving wife, mother, grandmother, sister, and aunt, and was a caring neighbor and friend. We celebrate her life and her accomplishments and will cherish the wonderful memories she created for her family and friends. Services will be held at 10:00 a.m. Friday, February 23, 2007, in the Holman-Howe Funeral Home, Lebanon. Burial will be in Mount Rose Memorial Park. Visitation will be held Thursday evening from 7 - 8:30 p.m. under the direction of Holman-Howe Funeral Home of Lebanon, Missouri.
