She was preceded in death by her parents; a grandson, Noah Legan; two brothers, Lester and Dale Moore; and a sister, Evelyn Prather.
Betty is survived by her husband of sixty-four years, Ralph, of the home; three sons, Ralph Edward “Eddy” Legan, Jr., and his wife, Debbie, of Gilmore, Texas, Delbert Legan, of Lebanon, Missouri, and Terry Legan, and his wife, Joye, of Laquey, Missouri; seven grandchildren, Sonya Garrett, and her husband, Randall, Steven Legan, and his wife, Amber, Brandi Carter, and her husband, Troy, Jason Legan, Alexandra Gray, and her husband, Steve, Terryssa Legan and Levi Legan; eleven great-grandchildren, Dalton, Alyssa, Haylee, Brandon, Blake, Allie, Hunter, Jaden, Maezie, Joshua and Rosalie; three great-great-grandchildren, Landan, Addison, and Kanin; several nieces and nephews; as well as a host of other relatives and friends.
She was born and raised in the Phillipsburg community and graduated from Phillipsburg High School. She worked as a telephone operator, and then as a seamstress for the Rice Stix Factory in Lebanon. After she and Ralph were married, they lived in Texas for a few years and then returned to the Lebanon area in 1962. Through the years, Betty was a devoted homemaker to her husband and family. Later, she and Ralph worked in the ticket department at the I-44 Speedway for a few years.
Betty made her profession of faith in Christ and was baptized in the Liberty Church.
In her spare time she enjoyed quilting, gardening and growing beautiful flowers. She enjoyed the races, but not when her sons were racing. Her family was very dear to her and she especially enjoyed having time with her grandchildren, great-grandchildren and great-great-grandchildren.
Betty was a loving wife, mother, grandmother, great-grandmother, great-great-grandmother, aunt, and was a caring friend. We celebrate her life and know that her family and friends will cherish the wonderful memories she created for them during her lifetime.
