Betty "Pauline" Luthy (Lebanon)'s Obituary
Betty Pauline Luthy, daughter of James Wesley and Rachel Bessie Coons Proctor, was born June 7, 1931, in Cabool, Missouri. She departed this life Wednesday, August 5, 2020, in Lebanon North Nursing and Rehabilitation Center, in Lebanon, Missouri, at the age of eighty-nine years, and twenty-nine days.
On November 7, 1948, she was united in marriage to Elbert Russell Luthy, and to this union three daughters and two sons were born.
She was preceded in death by her parents; her husband, Elbert, on December 3, 2008; a daughter, Vicki Blackburn; two brothers, Raymond Eugene Proctor, and Carl Proctor; and four sisters, Gladys Proctor, Goldie Murrell, Lucille Cook, and Dorothy Matthews.
Pauline is survived by two daughters, Rachel Johnson, and her special friend, Billy Weber, of Springfield, Missouri, and Hila Prock, and her husband, Ross, of Lebanon, Missouri; two sons, Don Luthy, and his wife, Barbara, and Lawrence Luthy, all of Lebanon, Missouri; fifteen grandchildren, Tyler Johnson, and his wife, Rachel, Kori Johnson, and his wife, Whitney, Christopher Blackburn, Chelse Spikes, and her husband, Michael, Kenneth Hicks, Heather Kincheloe, and her husband, Brian, Hope Wilson, and her husband, Ryan, Laura Coffey, Mandy Rogers, and her husband, Mike, Eric Prock, Kelly Westerfield, and her husband, Greg, Kyle Prock, Sydney Luthy, and his significant other, Jake Madrzykowski, and Morgan Luthy, and his fiancé, Parker Davis; twenty-four great-grandchildren; three great-great-grandchildren; a sister, Velma Coffman, of Lebanon, Missouri; several nieces and nephews; as well as a host of other relatives and friends.
She was raised in the country near Falcon, Missouri. She met her future husband while working as a waitress at the Lunch Box in downtown Lebanon. After there were married, they made their home in the Lebanon area and lovingly raised their children. In addition to being a devoted homemaker to her husband and family, Pauline also worked as a nurse’s aide from 1969 until 1978.
Pauline made her profession of faith in Christ early in her life and was a longtime active member of White Oak Pond Cumberland Presbyterian Church. She enjoyed helping with Vacation Bible School each year.
She was a member of the White Oak Pond Junior Farmers Association and had served on the Laclede County Fair Board. In her spare time she enjoyed working puzzles, painting, reading, sewing, quilting, and babysitting. Her family was very important to her and she especially enjoyed all of her grandchildren.
Pauline was a loving mother, grandmother, great-grandmother, great-great-grandmother, sister, aunt, and was a caring neighbor and friend. We celebrate her life and know that her family and friends will cherish the wonderful memories she created for them during her lifetime.
Funeral services for Pauline Luthy will be Tuesday, Aug. 11 at 10 a.m. at White Oak Pond Cumberland Presbyterian Church with burial in White Oak Pond Cemetery. Visitation will be held Monday evening, Aug. 10, from 5 - 7 p.m. at Holman-Howe Funeral Home in Lebanon.
A memorial has been established to the Gideon Bible Ministry or to the cemetery.
