Betty Rice (Bolivar)'s Obituary
Betty Frances Rice, 92, of Bolivar, MO passed away Sunday, April 30, 2017 at CMH Care Facility in Bolivar, MO.
Betty Frances Cacy, the daughter of Willie and Nellie Opal Cacy, was born June 18, 1924 near Dunnegan, MO in Cedar County. At the age of ten months her family moved to a farm three miles north of Aldrich, MO where she lived for sixteen years. Betty attended College Hill Rural School and then Aldrich High School, graduating in May 1941. Then she and her parents moved near Walnut Grove, MO. David Mac Rice and Betty Frances Cacy were united in marriage on August 13, 1941 in Harrison, Arkansas.
Preceding her in death-her parents Willie and Nellie Cacy; an infant brother, James Dale Cacy; her husband of 64 years, David Mac Rice; a brother-in-law, Wayne Rice; three sisters-in law, Wilda Rice and Nadine Rice of Bolivar, MO and Arlene Rice of Aldrich, MO; a daughter-in-law, Judy Rice; a niece, Patricia Rice of California.
Betty joined the Aldrich United Methodist Church in 1944 where she remained a member until her death. Betty worked along side her husband in Rice Cash Grocery for 38 years, for Wade's Super Market in Fair Play, MO for six years, cleaned offices for 15 years, then retired. Betty loved her garden and flowers. She liked to cook for her family and her specialty was her angel food cakes.
Betty is survived by three sons: Gary Rice, Gene and Linda Rice, Rex and Cindy Rice, all of Bolivar, MO; grandchildren: Lisa Rice Medley and husband Bryon, Michael Rice, Gelin Rice Douglas and husband Patrick; Ami Rice Greer and husband Jimmy; Lori Rice Lakey and husband Matt; and eight great grandchildren: Grace Medley, Josie and Cy Douglas, Hayden and Haylee Greer, Jeremy and Andrew Simpson and Brooke Henry. A brother-in-law: James Rice of Aldrich, MO and a niece Kenna Presley and husband Ray Presley, and several cousins.
Betty liked visiting with people and enjoyed meeting new people. She was a loving mother and enjoyed every minute she could be with family. She will be missed by all who knew her.
Services for Betty Rice will be held Wednesday, May 3, 2017 at 10:00 AM at the Butler Funeral Home in Bolivar, MO. Visitation will be held the hour prior. Burial will follow at Greenwood Cemetery.
