Betty Spencer (Camdenton)'s Obituary
Betty Jean Spencer was born on April 1, 1941 in Camdenton, Missouri and departed this life on May 26, 2020 in Columbia, Missouri. At the time of her passing she was 79 years of age.
Jean was born and raised in Camdenton, Missouri. She is a graduate of Camdenton High School. After graduation she was united in marriage to J. Bill Hunter and to this union two children were born, both whom survive her. Together they moved to Kansas City, Missouri when J. Bill took a job working for Ford Motor Company and that is where they raised their family. Jean continued her education and in March of 1982 she obtained her Nursing Assistant certificate and began a fulfilling career for many years at Liberty Hospital helping others. After their divorce Jean met Carl Spencer and a few years later on October 14, 1984, they were united in marriage. Together they moved back to Gravois Mills where they resided until her passing. Betty loved to play various games on the computer, crochet and read romance novels. Whether you knew her as “Momma”, “wife” or “G-Ma” you always knew two things, you were loved and she was the boss. Jean was the true matriarch of the family and will be truly missed by all who knew and loved her.
Jean was preceded in passing by her parents; by her two sisters, Nita Stine and Evelyn Hamner; five brothers, Carl Sousley, Bud Sousley, Clark Sousley, John Sousley and Corbitt Sousley; and her first husband, J. Bill Hunter. She is survived by her loving husband of 35 years, Carl Spencer; two children, Jim and wife Heather Hunter of Gravois Mills, Missouri and Sherry and husband Tommy Crockett of Gravois Mills, Missouri; one sister, Hazel McGlasson; four grandchildren, Elizabeth Davidson, Eric Perrette, Will Hunter and Addie Buffington; and five great-grandchildren, Tristen Perrette, Charlie Parker Perrette, Zackery Davidson, Ollie Perrette and Eli Perrette.
Funeral services will be held on Saturday, May 30, 2020 at 2:00 p.m. at Allee-Holman-Howe Funeral Home with Bro. Andrew Hall officiating. A visitation will be held prior to the service from 1:00-2:00 p.m. at the funeral home. Pallbearers will be Eric Perrette, Tommy Crockett, Tristan Perrette, Jim Hunter and Lance Duncan. A committal service will take place in Dale Blair Cemetery under direction of Allee-Holman-Howe Funeral Home following the funeral service.
