Betty Lou (Slavens) Swanigan (Buffalo)'s Obituary
Betty Lou (Slavens) Swanigan, age 91, went to be with her heavenly family, Friday September 22, 2023, at The Living Center in Marshall, Missouri.
Betty was born on September 19, 1932, in Ira, Missouri, to Freeman Harrison Slavens and Oma Ethel (Clemons) Slavens. She graduated from Tunas High School. She lived in Marshall most of her life. Betty worked as a developmental specialist at the Marshall Rehabilitation Center and retired from there. She was a member of the Olivet Free Will Baptist Church in Marshall. She was married to William “Bill” Swanigan on December 24, 1951. To this union four children were born Danny, Eugene, Brenda Jo, and Cherry Lynn.
She was preceded in death by her husband, parents, two brothers John and Gary, two sisters Juanita and Mary, two children Danny and Cherry, and one great-granddaughter Kree Taylor. Betty is survived by her daughter, Brenda Simmons; grandchildren and great-grandchildren, as well as other extended family and beloved friends.
Funeral services will be held at 11 a.m. on Friday September 29, 2023, at Hopewell Freewill Baptist Church in Tunas, Missouri with Pastor Tony Butcher officiating. Visitation will be held the hour prior beginning at 10 a.m. until service time. Betty will be laid to rest at the Hopewell Cemetery in Tunas, Missouri
