Betty (Williams) Fullington's Obituary
Betty Bernice Fullington, daughter of Dan and Nellie (Uhls) Williams, was born September 5, 1928 in Rock Falls, Illinois. She departed this life Saturday evening, February 25, 2012 in Cox Health Hospital, Springfield, Missouri.
She was raised in Rock Falls with her brother and sisters until her parents moved to Webster County. It was there that she met and married William Fullington. He and Uncle Jack built a one room log house for the young couple and they began their future here in the Ozarks. It well suited Betty, she was a spitfire, and enjoyed the country life. They were blessed with a son and two daughters and although they were not rich nor had an easy life, together they all found favor in the richness of love. Music has always been apart of Betty’s life. She traveled with William and Uncle Harold and often sang “Silver Headed Daddy of Mine” at a Chicago radio station. She encouraged the gift of music in her children and in the harmony of her life.
Betty was the heart of the family, and her family was her heart. She took pleasure in caring for her children, their children and was thrilled to welcome the third generation to her family. She loved to cook for them and their was no better treat than to watch her as she created the beautiful handmade gifts that she put so much love into.
She is preceded in death by her devoted husband, her son David Fullington and her daughter Carol Ann Fullington; her brother Regis Williams and sister Virginia Young; and a great-granddaughter Alexus Alexander.
Betty leaves behind her loving daughter Janet Fullington and fiancé James Scull of Mansfield, Missouri; her grandchildren, Dannielle Lowe of Mansfield, Missouri, Brian Lowe of Marshfield, Missouri, David Fullington, Jr., Amy Drane, and William Fullington, all of Rock Falls, Illinois, and Kevin Fullington of Mansfield, Missouri; her great-grandchildren, Blake, Logan, Layne, Stephen, KeAuna, Alyshia, Devin, Brenton, Nicholas, Dylan, Kevin, Kayla, Carissa and Kalynn ; her great-great-grandchildren, Akira, Dreaven, Skylee, Olivia, and Carena; as well as a host of nieces, nephews and many other caring family and friends.
We will miss Betty’s sense of humor, the special place she had in her heart for her dog Torio and the way she spoiled us all. Betty Bernice Fullington was strong in character, sharp as a tack and as giving and caring as they come. A loving wife, mother, grandmother, great-grandmother, and great-great-grandmother, sister, aunt and a caring neighbor and friend has left us to treasure all the memories shared. We celebrate her life, her legacy and her accomplishments, as we hold dear to the lessons she taught us. Never leave things undone, love well and give often.
Services for Betty Fullington will be held Friday, March 2, 2012 at 1pm at the Holman Howe Chapel in Seymour. Burial will follow at Liberty Cemetery. Visitation will be from 6:00-7:30 pm Thursday, March 1, 2012 in the funeral home.
