Beverly Ann Sides (Lebanon)'s Obituary
Beverly Ann Sides, daughter of John William and Eva Jane Rhodes Varble, was born February 9, 1943, in Lebanon, Missouri. She departed this life Friday, October 8, 2010, in St. John’s Hospital, in Springfield, Missouri, at the age of sixty-seven years, seven months, and twenty-nine days.
On February 27, 1964, she was united in marriage to Robert Harold Sides, and to this union three sons were born.
She was preceded in death by her husband, Robert, on January 25, 2007; and a sister, Brenda Schuyler.
Beverly is survived by three sons, Robert D. Sides, and his special friend, Peggy Fisher, of Lebanon, Missouri, Chris Sides, and his special friend, Candi Drew, of Springfield, Missouri, and Eddie Sides, and his wife, Misty, of Lebanon, Missouri; a granddaughter, Kayla Sides; three grandsons, Justin, Cody, and Jesse Sides; her parents, John and Eva Varble, of Lebanon, Missouri; a brother, John Lee Varble, of Lebanon, Missouri; four sisters, Barbara Nicholas, of Scarsdale, New York, Janie Cook and Cindy Newell, both of Lebanon, Missouri, and Tina Austin, of Mount Vernon, Missouri; a number of nieces and nephews; as well as a host of other relatives and friends.
She was born and raised in the Lebanon community, and graduated from Lebanon High School. She then attended Southwest Missouri State Teacher’s College in Springfield, Missouri. After she and Robert were married, they made their home in Pennsylvania for a few years, and then returned to Lebanon. In addition to being a devoted homemaker to her husband and family, Beverly also worked for Empire Gas Corporation for several years. She then was a teacher’s aide at Joel E. Barber School for a number of years, and later worked for Lebanon R-III Schools.
In her spare time she enjoyed doing craft projects of all kinds, and particularly enjoyed making baby quilts. She often displayed and sold her creations at various craft shows in the area. She also was an avid birdwatcher. Her family was very important to her and she especially enjoyed her grandchildren.
Beverly was a loving mother, grandmother, daughter, sister, and aunt, and was a kind and caring neighbor and friend. We celebrate her life and know that her family and friends will cherish the wonderful memories she created for them throughout the years.
