Beverly J Peters (Seymour)'s Obituary
Beverly Jean Peters, age 80, a long time Seymour resident, passed away Sunday, October 15, 2017 at Glenwood Healthcare after a lengthy battle with Alzheimer’s disease. Beverly was born Monday, April 19, 1937 in Newton, Iowa, one of two children of William Henry Miller and Edna Mae (Cole) Miller. The family moved to the Houston, Missouri area when Beverly and her brother Jerry were young before settling in Seymour in 1947. Beverly attended Seymour schools and was the third person hired when HD Lee started operations in Seymour. She stayed with them for over 30 years and retired as a supervisor. On August 8, 1952 she was united in marriage to Joseph E. Peters and to this union two children were born. She and her family attended the First Baptist Church of Seymour for many years.
Beverly had served the Hazelwood Lodge as a past Worthy Matron of Eastern Star all the while enjoying what was referred to as her second childhood! She enjoyed time spent hunting, fishing, golfing, sewing and quilting. She even had piloted a plane, drove a race car in a Powder Puff Derby rode a motorcycle as well.
She was preceded in death by her parents, her husband Joseph Peters in November of 2016 and a granddaughter Hayley Jo Burks.
Surviving Beverly are her son Joe Bill Peters of Seymour; daughter and son-in-law Kathy and Jackie Smith of Seymour; 5 grandchildren, Jeff Smith, Jennifer Burks, Sara Warren, Andrew Peters and Cassidy Peters; 8 great grandchildren Tayton Thompson, Taylor Thompson, Turner Thompson, Shea Peters, Simon Peters, Andrew Burks, Brie Warren and Arie Warren as well as many nieces, nephews and extended family. She is also survived by her long time, special friend Skipper Maybee.
In lieu of flowers a memorial contribution may be made to the Alzheimer's Association and may be left at the funeral home.
