Beverly Rovestine (Bolivar)'s Obituary
Beverly Ann Rovenstine, aged 77, died peacefully surrounded by family at a Bolivar care facility on June 21, 2018 following a brief illness. She was born May 11, 1941 at her family home in Polk County the daughter of Woodrow and Helen Scroggins. Beverly was saved at the age of 17 at Rural Hill Baptist Church where her family attended while she was a child.
Beverly attended Pleasant Hope school where she graduated in 1959 and then went on to attend classes at Drury University for a short time. She lived in Warrensburg, Missouri for a short period before returning to the Bolivar area where she began working in the administrative offices at Southwest Baptist College. It was at this time she met and married Don Rovenstine of Fair Play, Missouri. From this union she became the step-mother to Jeff Rovenstine of Kansas City, Missouri and Darin Rovenstine from Mississippi. Shortly after Don and Beverly were married three children were born, Ted Rovenstine, and twins Chuck Rovenstine, and Zella (Rovenstine) Simpson.
Beverly and Don started a poultry farm the year the twins were born in 1975. They raised chickens and then turkeys just shy of thirty years for large companies such as Cargill and Willowbrook Food. While Don worked outside the home as a contractor and electrician Beverly was the main charge of the turkey farm raising approximately seven thousand birds at a time.
Beverly was a dedicated mother whose primary goal was to raise successful and kind children. She was most proud of that accomplishment, but when asked would modestly say she got lucky. The children she was so proud of include: Ted Rovenstine who married Stephanie (Vest) Rovenstine of Fair Play, MO. Ted and Stephanie are the owners and operators of Rovenstine Greenhouse and Landscaping and they have one son Devon Rovenstine, aged 19. Chuck married Sarah (Gaynor) Rovenstine of Pleasant Hope, MO. Chuck is a lead electrician at Sechler Electric he and Sarah have three children Justin, aged 19, Jarrett, aged 17, and Hallie Jo, aged 13. Zella teaches elementary children as a Reading Specialist at Bolivar Intermediate School she and Billy have four daughters, Sheila, aged 23, Dahlia, aged 19, Lexie, aged 16, and Bella, aged 7. Beverly was often heard telling her life-long friends Judy (Jones) McKinney and Patricia (Whitman) Tindle how proud she was of her children’s accomplishments and their success as adults as well as their ability to raise wonderful successful grandchildren.
Beverly was preceded in death by her parents Woodrow and Helen Scroggins as well as her husband Donald Rovenstine. She is survived by her brother Dale Scroggins, her step-sons Jeff Rovenstine and Darin Rovenstine, as well as her three children Ted Rovenstine, Chuck Rovenstine, and Zella (Rovenstine) Simpson, and her eight grandchildren in order by age: Sheila Simpson, Devon Rovenstine, Dahlia Simpson, Justin Rovenstine, Jarrett Rovenstine, Lexie Simpson, Hallie Jo Rovenstine, and Bella Simpson.
