Billie Goans (Lebanon)'s Obituary
Billie Howard Goans, son of Howard and Lottie Jones Goans, was born June 1, 1945, in Lebanon, Missouri. He departed this life Saturday, February 3, 2018, in Mercy Hospital, in Springfield, Missouri, at the age of seventy-two years, eight months, and two days.
On December 9, 1966, he was united in marriage to Carol Marshall, and to this union one daughter and three sons were born.
His parents preceded by him in death.
Billie is survived by his loving wife of fifty-one years, Carol, of the home; a daughter, Christine Perryman, and her husband, Bruce, of Lebanon, Missouri; three sons, Brian Goans, and his wife, Anne, of Strafford, Missouri, Bradley Goans, of Sedalia, Missouri, and Brent Goans, and his wife, Sherri, of Lebanon, Missouri; eleven grandchildren, Britney, Alex, Christopher, Hannah, Brennon, Austin, Breelynn, Justin, Regan, Troy, and Jack; one great-grandchild, Hunter, and an eagerly anticipated great-granddaughter, Ava; a sister, Bonnie Medley, of Lebanon, Missouri; as well as a host of other relatives and friends.
He was born and raised in the Lebanon area, and graduated from Lebanon High School. He then served his country faithfully in the United States Army from 1965 – 1967, and was stationed in Germany. After he and Carol were married, they made their home on their farm near Lebanon, and lovingly raised their family. He worked for the Durham Company for a couple of years and then was employed by Mid-America Dairy, where he stayed until they closed the plant. He worked for Robertson Dairy in Kansas City until retiring in 2004. Throughout the years, he always took care of his farm.
He was a lifetime member of the Laclede County Fox Trotting Association and loved Fox Trotting horses. He helped each year with their association horse show. Early in his life he enjoyed coon hunting, and his favorite coon dog breed was black and tan. His favorite cat was “Miss Kitty”. His family was very important to him and he especially enjoyed spending time with his grandchildren.
Billie was a loving husband, father, grandfather, great-grandfather, brother, and was a caring neighbor and friend. We celebrate his life and know that his family and friends will treasure the wonderful memories he made for them during his lifetime.
