Billy Dale Dickson (Seymour)'s Obituary
Bill Dickson, beloved father and grandfather, passed away with loved ones at his side on Sunday, September 20, 2015, in Cox South Medical Center in Springfield, Missouri. Bill was eighty-four years, six months and three days of age at the time of his passing.
One of ten children, he was born Billy Dale Dickson in rural Webster County on March 17, 1931, to Robert and Lena (Good) Dickson. He wed Mary Sue Denney on January 8, 1956, and to this union three children were born. Bill and Mary Sue were together for forty-three wonderful years until her passing in 1999. He faithfully served his country in the United States Air Force, having spent time on the Aleutian Islands during the Korean War. Except for time spent in the service, Bill lived all of his years in the Springfield and Seymour areas.
On May 28, 1955, Bill earned his barbering certification from Moler Barber College and thus began his career at Plaza Barbershop in Springfield. The shop changed hands in the early 1980s, and Bill continued to barber there until his retirement. He found happiness again in 2000, when he married Barbara Crump. They spent ten blessed years together until her passing in 2010.
In addition to his parents, the mother of his children, and his second wife, Bill was preceded in death by seven siblings, Irvin Dickson, Johnny Dickson, Bo Dickson, Arlene Bakkum, Shirley Clift, Mildred Owens, and Nadine Sartin.
Bill is survived by two daughters, Tammy Barlow of Fordland, Missouri, and Teresa Dickson of Seymour, Missouri; one son, Greg Dickson and wife, Bridgette, of Rogersville, Missouri; four grandchildren, Chad Barlow, Tyler Barlow and Natalie Wallace, Brittany Bennett and husband, Grady, and Ashley Kelley and husband, Brandon; seven great-grandchildren, Weston, Emma, Corbyn, and Greycen Bennett, Addie and Ava Kelley, and Jackson Dale Barlow; two brothers, Jack Dickson and wife, Juanita, of Diggins, Missouri, and Keith Dickson and wife, Angie, of Rogersville; a host of nieces and nephews; and many more extended family, dear friends, neighbors and comrades.
Bill was a devoted husband and family man. He was a caring brother and loyal friend. Bill lived a life that set an example for his children. The many moments and memories created and shared during his long life will be treasured in the hearts of all those who knew and loved him. Bill will be fondly remembered for his bright smile, gentle spirit and a great cut.
