Billy Lane Dorris (Hartville)'s Obituary
Bill Dorris, beloved husband of Teresa Dorris, unexpectedly departed this life early Sunday morning, November 23, 2014, at his residence in Hartville, Missouri. He was fifty-two years and four months young.
Born Billy Lane Dorris on July 23, 1962, in Cabool, Missouri, he was the second of two sons born to William Wayne and Mary Eileen (Barnett) Dorris. He was raised in Jerktail and attended Hartville schools. Billy was a graduate of the Hartville High School Class of 1980. As he got older, he was known as ‘Bill’ to his friends and family. On February 18, 1989, at the Hartville Assembly of God, Rev. Charles Stoker officiated the marriage of Billy Lane to Teresa Lynn Browitt, and to this union a daughter and son were born. The Dorris’ made Hartville their home and they were happily married for over 25 years. Billy was saved as a young boy and later re-dedicated his life at Hilltop Pentecostal Church. At the age of fourteen, Bill took his first job at Lawler’s Station and Auto Supply. He stayed on through his junior year and then began working at Town and Country Supermarket where he was a dedicated employee until his passing.
Bill enjoyed the outdoors, shooting guns, and riding four-wheelers. He loved watching hockey and was a loyal supporter of his hometown Hartville Eagles Boys Basketball team. He was not afraid to express his opinion on the referees’ calls and got into trouble for it by his wife on more than one occasion. In his spare time, he also liked surfing the internet.
He was preceded in death by his parents, William and Mary Dorris. Bill leaves behind his loving wife Teresa of the home; son, Chad Dorris of the home; daughter, Kristen Pyle and husband Doug, of Hartville; brother, Jerry Dorris and wife Julie, of Fair Grove, Missouri; father and mother-in-law, Jerry and Betty Browitt of Hartville; brother and sister-in-law, Terry and Melissa Browitt of Hartville; a niece and four nephews; and a host of extended family, dear friends, and neighbors. Billy Lane Dorris was a devoted husband and dad, a caring brother and uncle, and a loyal friend. Though he has left us much too soon, the moments and memories he created for family and friends will be cherished in their hearts and minds forever.
Memorial donations may be made to the Dorris Family at the funeral home.
