Billy Haskew's Obituary
Billy Clay Haskew, son of Clarence D. and Ollie Bell (McCasland) Haskew, was born November 5, 1932, in Portales, New Mexico. He departed this life Monday, May 17, 2010, in Hartville Care Center, in Hartville, Missouri, at the age of seventy-seven years, six months and twelve days.
On September 17, 1954, he was united in marriage to Cora Ann Huddleston, and they shared thirty-five years together.
He was preceded in death by his parents; his wife, Cora Ann, on November 7, 1989; a daughter, Cynthia Kay Haskew; and three brothers, Clayton and Joe Haskew, and an infant brother.
Bill is survived by his five children and their spouses, Billy Bob and Am Haskew, of West Plains, Missouri, Peggy and Michael Leger, of Bigelow, Arkansas, Jerry and Theresa Haskew, of Hartville, Missouri, Pat and Lee Evans, of Oswego, Kansas, and Ky and Teresa Haskew, of Springfield, Missouri; fifteen grandchildren and twenty-three great-grandchildren; two sisters, Roberta Cargill and her husband, Lee, of Milburn, Oklahoma and Jo Benson, of Amarillo, Texas; a number of nieces and nephews; an aunt, Bertie Robertson, of Albuquerque, New Mexico; and a very special person, who was like a granddaughter to him, Jennifer Shute, of Pleasant Hope, Missouri; well as a host of other relatives and many friends.
He was born and raised in the Portales, New Mexico area and around the age of twenty, he moved to California where he met and married his wife. They continued to make their home in California, where their children were born. In 1971 the family moved to Hartville, Missouri where they began the journey of their farming operation. He loved being outdoors and caring for the farm.
Bill had professed his faith in Christ and attended Rock Chapel Church, where he enjoyed his church fellowship. He had been a member of the Cattleman’s Association, was an avid supporter of the school FFA Chapter. Over the years he had also done custom hay baling for fellow farmers.
In his spare time he enjoyed fishing, hunting, gardening and welding. He found great pleasure in spending time at Hartville Senior Citizens visiting, swapping stories and playing Mexican Dominos.
Bill was a loving father, grandfather, great-grand father, brother, uncle and caring friend. We celebrate his life and accomplishments, and will forever hold dear the memories he created for his family and many friends. He will be greatly missed but will live on in our hearts forever.
Funeral services for Billy Haskew will be held at 7:00 p.m. Wednesday, May 19, 2010 in the Holman-Howe Funeral Home, Hartville, Missouri.
Visitation will be from 6:00p.m. until time of service Wednesday evening in the funeral home.
Services are under the direction of the Holman-Howe Funeral Home of Hartville.
