Billy Everett King (Seymour)'s Obituary
Billy Everett King was the youngest of three children born to Clarence Elsworth and Helen Genevieve (Evans) King. He entered this world November 11th, 1939, in Clinton, Missouri, where he was raised until the kids were teens, and the family moved to Kansas City, Missouri. Bill graduated from Westport High School in Kansas City in the Class of 1957.
In January 1958, at the age of 18, Billy enlisted in the United States Navy and proudly served his country until honorable discharge in May 1962, having attained the rank of Damage Control Third Class.
It was May 1972, when Bill met his soulmate, Dorothy Grace Adcox. Each living in the Kansas City area, they were hard-working and dedicated single parents to young children. They dated for one year and on June 1st, 1973, they married and devoted the next 48 years to each other, their kids and grandchildren.
Bill was a union carpenter by trade. He was a lifetime member of the VFW and the American Legion. He loved to restore and show old cars and was awarded many trophies and ribbons at various car shows for his 1938 Ford and 1952 Chevy.
In the twilight hours of Tuesday, September 15th, 2020, at his residence in Seymour and with Dorothy at his side, Bill departed this earthly life for Heaven. He was eighty years, ten months, and four days wise. He was greeted at The Gates by his parents; brother, Donald King and his wife, Mary; a niece, Karen King, and a nephew, Gary King; daughter-in-law, Gail (Hennigh) Plain; six sisters-in-law and their husbands, Mildred Drollinger, Marcia and Mark Smith, Martha Adcox, Maribell and Robert Morris, Nancy Sue Ryan, and Alice and Don Richardson; and brother-in-law, Ernest Beck.
Mr. King is survived by his beloved wife, Dorothy G. King, of the home; two daughters, Frances Ridenour and husband, Ray, of Plant City, Florida, and Wendy Ridenour and husband, Steven, of Coconut Creek, Florida; a son, Kevin Plain and wife, Sandy, of Pickens, South Carolina; six grand- and seven great-grandchildren, Joshua and Christine Ridenour and their two sons, Ace and Pax Ridenour, Sara Ridenour, Lisia Ridenour, Kandice Campbell and her three children, Alex Meyers, Lucas Reid and Ella Rose Reid, Karen and Shawn Brenneford, and Rev. Kevin Blake and Kristin Plain, and their son, Asher Blake Plain; brother, Bobby King and wife, Tricia, of Independence, Missouri; nieces and nephews, Kathy, Tammy, Vicky, Jeff, and Donnie; three sisters-in-law, Ruth Evelyn Adcox, of Independence, Missouri, Marjorie Beck, of Buffalo, Missouri, and Marie Wilson and husband, Bill, of Arlington, Texas; and two brothers-in-law, Robert Drollinger, and Leonard Ryan; many more extended family, friends, neighbors, and comrades.
Inurnnment will take place at Missouri Veterans Cemetery on Tuesday, October 13, 2020, at 11:00 AM, with Bill's grandson, Reverend Kevin B. Plain, officiating.
