Billy Gene Lynch (Lebanon)'s Obituary
Billy Gene Lynch, son of Swiggart Raymond and Mary Ruth McColgan Lynch, was born October 11, 1932, in Hickman, Kentucky. He departed this life Sunday, October 14, 2018, in his home, near Richland, Missouri, at the age of eighty-six years, and three days.
In June of 1986, he was united in marriage to Sharon Claudette Brown, who preceded him in death on May 23, 2005.
He was also preceded in death by his parents; his wife, Dorothy Lynch; a grandson, Erick Andrew Lynch; and four brothers, Bobby Garland, Joe Raymond, Thomas Garland, and Richard Boone Lynch.
Billy is survived by six children, Michael Lynch, and his wife, Gale, of Longview, Texas, Jacqueline “Jackie” Lynch, of Phoenix, Arizona, Patrick Lynch, and Dianne, of Colorado Springs, Colorado, James Lynch, and his wife, Cori, of Phoenix, Arizona, Gerald Lynch, and his wife, Jill, of Colorado Springs, Colorado, and Roni Lynch, of Phoenix, Arizona; two step-children, Stephanie Vorhees, of Camdenton, Missouri, and Gwenda Rose, of Lebanon, Missouri; seventeen grandchildren; twenty-three great-grandchildren; a brother, James Harold Lynch, of Detroit, Michigan; several nieces and nephews; as well as a host of other relatives and friends.
He was born in Kentucky and was raised in Detroit, Michigan, where he graduated from high school. He entered the military as a young man, and served his country faithfully in the United States Army for twenty-four years. He served two tours of duty in Korea and one in Vietnam and received a Bronze Star and three Army Commendation Medals. He officially retired as a Master Sergeant in 1971, and then made his home in the Richland community. Through the years, Billy had also earned his Bachelor of Business Administration Degree. He later owned and operated Ozark Woodworks for several years.
He was a member of the Veterans of Foreign Wars Post # 4107 in Lebanon and the Lebanon Elks Lodge. He greatly enjoyed traveling across the United States and was a snowbird each winter. He liked being outdoors where his favorite activities were fishing and hunting. He also liked doing woodworking projects, painting, and was kind of a handyman.
Billy was a loving father, grandfather, great-grandfather, brother, uncle, and was a caring neighbor and friend. We celebrate his life and know that he will be fondly remembered as a loving family man, a devoted military man, a patriotic citizen and a good friend.
