Billy Joe Maddox (Seymour)'s Obituary
Billy Joe Maddox, age 88 of Seymour, Missouri passed from this life on January 27, 2017. He was born in Elk City, Oklahoma on August 12, 1928 one of a large family of ten children born to Harley and Bessie (Holmes) Maddox.
Billy Joe was eighteen years old when he met the love of his life Alva Koop. They married on September 10, 1946 in Wheeler, Texas and to this union one son was born.
After the couple married they started working and became young entrepreneurs owning a laundromat and a lumber yard. Later they settled in Seymour, Missouri and became dairy farmers for many years, finally selling the farm in 1993. During their working years they spent time in northwest Oklahoma and Southwest Missouri. One of Billy Joe’s greatest joys was spending time with family. He was well known to “pick on the little ones”!
Billy Joe was preceded in death by his parents and siblings Imogene Meadows, Leon Maddox, Lilian White, Betty Lee Bradley, James A. Maddox, L.V. Maddox and an infant brother.
He is survived by his wife of 70 years Alva of the home; a son Jimmy Maddox and wife Cathy of Willard, MO; one grandson Kyle Maddox and wife Cheryl of Springfield, MO; two sisters Loretta Robson and Margaret Musick of Elk City, OK and numerous nieces, nephews and his beloved dog Killer.
