Billy Newton (Lebanon)'s Obituary
Billy Fred Newton, 88, of Bowie, Texas, formerly of Lebanon, died Sunday, Feb. 5, 2017, in Grapevine, Texas.
He was born Dec. 20, 1928, in Gainesville, Texas, to Charles and Hannah (Davis) Newton.
He grew up in Arkansas and was the youngest of nine children.
On March 17, 1966, he married Phyllis Peterson, who preceded him in death. He also was preceded in death by his parents; and brothers and sisters, Dee Newton, Omar Newton, Ira Newton, Euless Newton, Marvel Kirk, Dot Slaton, Sarah Banks and Donna Lewis.
He was a bus driver for Greyhound Bus Company for 27 years and he retired in 1986. Billy loved going fishing, and he was a devoted family man. He never met a stranger.
Survivors include his children, Belinda Moore and husband, Billy, of Childress, Texas; Timothy Newton, of Spring, Texas; Michael Newton and wife, Susan, of Haslet, Texas; Sharon Sackett and husband, Jake, of Bowie, Texas; eight grandchildren, eight great-grandchildren, and numerous nieces and nephews.
Funeral services for Billy Fred Newton will be held at 1 p.m. Tuesday, Feb. 7, 2017, in the chapel of the White Family Funeral Home in Bowie, Texas.
Graveside services and burial will be held at 10 a.m. Thursday, Feb. 9, 2017, in the Antioch Cemetery near Lebanon.
In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to the Diabetes Foundation. Arrangements have been entrusted to the White Family Funeral Home of Bowie, Texas.
