Billy Joe Reese (Hartville)'s Obituary
Billy Joe Reese, son of Noah and Annie Garrett Reese, was born July 17, 1929. He departed this earthly life Saturday evening, June 9, 2018 in his home in Odin, at the age of eighty-eight years, ten months, and twenty-three days.
Bill is preceded in death by his loving wife Eva Lena; his parents; a son, Paul Reese; four sisters, Unita, Ruby, Eva Lee, and Mildred; and a brother, Noah Jr.
He is survived by his two sons, Joe Reese of Odin, Missouri and Shelby Reese and his wife Melissa of Odin, Missouri; six grandchildren, Kody, Kaleb, Kelsey, Andrew, and Jacob Reese, and Stephanie Lyon and her husband Stephen; eleven great-grandchildren; many nieces, nephews, other relatives, and many friends.
Bill was born and raised in Odin and attended the Dry Branch school house before going to Hartville High School. He graduated Hartville High School in 1947 and fell in love and married Eva Lena Nichols in 1948. The two stayed together until her passing in November of 1999. Bill was a farmer and milked cows but also worked several jobs as well. He worked for H.D. Lee as a spreader and eventually retired from the factory. He also worked for Lee Calton stacking pallets and for the Hartville High School as a janitor.
When Bill wasn’t working he enjoyed quail hunting, grabbin’, giggin’, and occasionally trap shooting with his friends. But most importantly, Bill loved spending time with his family. He was a loving husband, father, grandfather, great-grandfather, brother, and friend. We celebrate his wonderful life and will always cherish the many happy memories that he created.
