Birdie Alice Senna (Seymour)'s Obituary
Birdie Senna, beloved wife of the late Alvio Senna, peacefully departed this life on Wednesday, May 20, 2015, at her daughter’s home in Marshfield, Missouri. Birdie was eighty-eight years, four months and six days of age at the time of her passing.
The oldest of eleven children, she was born Birdie Alice Tuttle on January 14, 1927, to I.B. and Bessie (King) Tuttle, in Floyd County, Kentucky; a true coal miner’s daughter. In her late thirties, Birdie became a single parent of six children. She raised all of her children working as a waitress, earning $1.65 an hour plus tips. Needless to say, Birdie was a very hard worker and worked long hours, but she never complained. Birdie was, by nature, a very happy person and always had a beautiful smile on her face. She had a very kind and generous heart. If a person needed something, Birdie would give what she could, even if it meant she would go without. Birdie was a devoted and adoring mother. She loved her children and grandchildren dearly and they loved her – she enjoyed every minute spent with them. Birdie also loved to dance, especially to western swing and old time music. She belonged to the Moose Lodge in California, and every Friday she had her hair and nails done to be ready for Saturday night dancing. Even when Birdie moved to Seymour in her seventies, she still danced every chance she got. When she could, Birdie also enjoyed travelling and was never without her Toy Yorkie and trusty companion, Rusty. In addition to her parents, Birdie was preceded in death by her husband, Alvio Thomas Senna, on March 9, 2006; three brothers, Lonnie, Bart and Bub Tuttle; three sisters, Cleta Adams, Sally Jo Elliott, and Opal Carter; great-granddaughter, Amber Rogers; and great-grandson, David Rogers. Birdie leaves behind her six children; daughter, Wanda Walis and husband, Doug, of Julian, California; daughter, Clarice “Jeannie” Jeffrey and husband, Robert, of Seymour, Missouri; son, David Lee O’Bryan and wife, Sue, of North Carolina; daughter, Freda “Trinket” Crates and the late Donald P. Crates, of Marshfield; son, Daniel McClellan O’Bryan of Sacramento, California; and daughter, Rose “Rosie” Marie Carl and husband, Ron, of Seymour; fourteen grandchildren, twenty-five great-grandchildren, and one great-great-grandchild; two brothers, Bishop T. Tuttle and wife, Shelby, of Fort Lauderdale, Florida, and Cornelius Tuttle and wife, Barbara, of Kentucky; two sisters, Patricia Lawson and husband, Fred, of Pikeville, Kentucky, and Shirley Lawson and the late Ab Lawson, of McDowell, Kentucky; numerous nieces, nephews, extended family and dear friends. Birdie Alice Senna was a woman who loved life and cherished her family. She will be fondly remembered as a classy woman with a gentle spirit who never met a stranger. Her happiness and warm smile were infectious. The memories and moments created over her years with us will be treasured in our hearts forever. She will be sadly missed by all those who were blessed enough to have crossed her path.
