Bobby J Harris (Lebanon)'s Obituary
Bobby Joe Harris, son of Robert U. and Rosie Summers Harris, was born November 14, 1936, in Statesville, North Carolina.  He departed this life Wednesday, June 13, 2012, in Mercy Hospital, in Lebanon, Missouri, at the age of seventy-five years, six months, and twenty-nine days.
On May 9, 1979, he was united in marriage to Thelma Lee Shriver, and they shared the last thirty-two years.
He was preceded in death by his parents; his wife, Thelma, on February 5, 2012; four brothers, William Darven, Robert Paul, Robert Udell, and Jerry Ray; four sisters, Mary Deanna, Mabel Mae, Dorothy Louise, and Patty Jean.
Bobby is survived by a son, Bobby Joe Harris, Jr., of Statesville, North Carolina; a step-daughter, Thelma Lewis, of Lebanon, Missouri; three step-sons, Charles and Jeffrey Greeno, both of Lebanon, Missouri, and Phillip Greeno, of Hot Springs, Nebraska; nine grandchildren; a number of great-grandchildren; a sister, Nancy Horne, of Statesville, North Carolina; several nieces and nephews; as well as a host of other relatives and friends.
He was born and raised in North Carolina, and then entered the military as a young man.  He served his country faithfully in the United States Army for over twenty years, retiring with the rank of Staff Sergeant.  He served two tours of duty in Vietnam and was stationed stateside in Arizona, New Mexico, and Virginia.  After retiring, he made his home in Missouri.
Bobby was a lifetime member of the Veterans of Foreign Wars and the American Legion, and was an active volunteer with the American Red Cross.  He had been awarded the Gloria Doss Award for his service in the Red Cross, and was also named one of Lebanon’s Hometown Heroes.  He was active in the Hughes Senior Center, and enjoyed dancing and singing.  In his spare time he liked being outdoors where his favorite activity was fishing.
Bobby was a loving father, grandfather, great-grandfather, brother, and uncle, and was a caring neighbor and friend.  He will be fondly remembered for his patriotic spirit and will be greatly missed.
