Bobby Sheppard's Obituary
Bobby Darrell Sheppard, son of William Edward and Ivey Myrtle Dennis Sheppard, was born March 31, 1931 in Hartville, Missouri. He departed this life Friday, March 16, 2012 in Christian Health Care, Republic, Missouri, at the age of eighty-years, eleven months, and sixteen days.
On February 12, 1955, Bobby was united in marriage to Mildred Hutsell, and to this union two children were born.
He was preceded in death by his wife, Mildred, on June 4, 1997; his daughter, Pamela Sheppard on January 18, 1989; brothers, Alston, Clifford, Curtis, Earl, and Georgene Sheppard; sisters, infant sisters Wilmouth and Wilda Sheppard, Margrett Shelby, Utella Matlock, and Marcella Matlock.
Bobby is survived by his son, Edward Sheppard and wife Sharon, of Pleasant Hill, Missouri; grandchildren, Kristy Warren and husband Thomas of Peculiar, Missouri, Angela Sheppard of Grain Valley, Missouri, Justin Sheppard and wife Rachel of Pleasant Hill, Missouri, and Amy Perkins of Springfield, Missouri; seven great-grandchildren; a brother, Russell Sheppard and wife Joan of Mountain Grove, Missouri; a sister, Avis Brown of Mountain Grove, Missouri; as well as a host of other relatives and many dear friends.
Bobby was born in Hartville, and attended Broyles School through the eight grade. He joined the United States Army at the age of seventeen. He proudly served his country as a Sargent First Class in the U.S. Army infantry during the Korean Conflict; he spent thirty-four months as a Prisoner of War and was a recipient of a Purple Heart.
Following the War, Bobby returned to Hartville and owned and operated a Phillips 66 in Mountain Grove for a short time. He married the love of his life, Mildred, in 1955. They briefly made their home in Kansas City before settling in Republic. Bobby owned and operated Sheppard Small Engine Shop for over thirty years, retiring in the late 1980’s.
Bobby enjoyed hunting and fishing in his younger years and cherished the time he spent with his family and friends. Bobby was a loving father, grandfather, great-grandfather, brother, and uncle, and was a caring neighbor and friend. We celebrate his life and accomplishments and will treasure the many wonderful memories he has created for his family and many dear friends.
Services for Bobby D. Sheppard Will be held Monday March 19,2012 at 10 am in Holman-Howe Funeral Home, Hartville, Missouri, burial will follow in Broyles cemetery, southeast of Hartville.
Visitation will be 3-5:00 pm Sunday March 18 in the Funeral Home.
Memorials may be made to the Broyles Cemetery, and can be left at the Funeral Home.
