Bobby Simmons (Seymour)'s Obituary
On Saturday, January 21, 2012, God called his faithful servant, Bobby Ray Simmons from Glenwood Healthcare, Seymour, Missouri to his heavenly home at the age of seventy-seven years, ten months, and twenty-five days. We will miss him dearly, but we take comfort knowing the truth, through our Lord Jesus, we will someday be with him again.
Son of Charles and Mary (Lively) Simmons, Bobby was born February 27, 1934, near Mansfield, Missouri. He grew up in the hills and hollers of Wright County with his two sisters and three brothers.
Bobby married his true love, Mary Jo Davidson on October 4, 1952, and to this union three daughters and one son were born. Together they raised their family in the Seymour area and created a home for many throughout the years.
Faith was the foundation in Bobby’s life; he passes on a legacy of service and love to his family, his church and was a man who lived out his faith in every part of his walk. He dedicated his life to the Lord Jesus at an early age at Lone Star Baptist church, was a Free-Will Baptist minister for over forty years, leaving behind a multitude of lives that he has blessed. Bobby worked hard to provide for his family, he loved his wife with all his heart and was proud of his children. He loved to work with his hands using his talents in woodworking, creating birdhouses and helping his neighbors. Bob was a hunter, fisherman and enjoyed being in the outdoors. He shared the blessing of God’s creations with his son, his grandchildren and his dear friends Bob and Cecil.
He is preceded in death by his parents, his sisters Nelrita and Skeeter, and his brothers Bill, Sam, and Larry.
Bob is survived by his devoted wife Jo Simmons, of the home; his daughters, Donna Rae Carpenter and husband Johnny of Fordland, Missouri, Debbie Jo Kastning and husband Bob of Seymour, Missouri, Tresa Darlene Coday and husband Dennis of Seymour, Missouri; his son Chris Simmons and wife Cara of Hartville, Missouri; his grandchildren, Jonathon Carpenter, Bobby, Josh, Justin and Ellie Kastning, Nathan and Ellisha Coday, Hunter, Hagan, and Holton Simmons; his great-grandchildren Allison, Shelby, Nicki and Hannah; several nieces and nephews; as well as a host of other family, and dear friends.
