Bobby Watkins' Obituary
obby Wayne Watkins, departed this life on June 24, 2008, in his home in Lebanon, Missouri. He was born in Shelby, Nebraska, on April 21, 1926, the son of O.A. and Elsie (Huddleston) Watkins. He attended public schools in Shelby. In July of 1944, Bobby entered the United States Navy, serving on the USS LST 973 until February of 1946. After receiving an Honorable Discharge from the United States Navy, he went to work for Augustine Brothers as a truck driver. On July 27, 1944, Bobby married Maxine Suddarth. They lived in Shelby until 1956, when they moved to Colorado. Bobby went to work for Miller Warehouse, then for P.I.E. In 1958 he began driving a truck for Safeway, Inc. After a number of years, he became a dispatcher, then Country Supervisor, and finally City Supervisor, retiring in 1983 after twenty-five years with Safeway. In October of 1983, he and Maxine moved to a small farm outside of Grovespring, Missouri. They moved to Lebanon, Missouri in June of 2004. Bobby loved doing yard work and spending time with friends and family. He had a great sense of humor and enjoyed “spoofing” people (and was good at it!). “Dad, we love you and will miss you so much, though we know you are in a better place now and enjoying being reunited with Mom”. Bobby was preceded in death by his loving wife, Maxine; his son, Brian; his parents; one brother and four sisters. He is survived by a son, Blaine, and his wife, Donna, of Winter Park, Florida; two daughters, Pamela Moritz, of Billings, Montana, and Roxanne Weigel, and her husband, John, of Commerce City, Colorado; four grandchildren, Angela Cardell, Stephanie Herron, Greg Moritz and Jason Weigel; three great-grandchildren, Jon and Joshua Herron, and Nathan Weigel; two sisters, Dona Wieseman, of Stromsburg, Nebraska, and Iris Kaupilla of Adele, Iowa; a number of nieces and nephews; as well as a host of other relatives and friends. Services will be held at 11:00 a.m. Saturday, June 28, 2008, in the Holman-Howe Chapel, Hartville. Visitation will be held from 10:00 a.m. until service time. Memorials to the First Christian Church of Hartville, or St. Hohn's Hospice Care of Lebanon, may be made through the funeral home.
