Bradford S. Bradley, Sr. (Lebanon)'s Obituary
Bradford Scott Bradley, Sr., son of Kelly and Vena Thomas Bradley, was born May 16, 1932, in Gunlock, Kentucky. He departed this life Friday, July 29, 2016, in Mercy Hospital, in Springfield, Missouri, at the age of eighty-four years, two months, and thirteen days.
On June 7, 1959, he was united in marriage to Patricia Ann Davis, and to this union four daughters and two sons were born.
He was preceded in death by his parents; an infant son; a granddaughter, Patricia Sing-Sherrer; two brothers, Chester and Kelly Arthur; and two sisters, Lucille and Elsie.
Brad is survived by his loving wife of fifty-seven years, Patricia, of the home; four daughters, Kay Ripley, and her husband, Shawn, of Eldridge, Missouri, Gay Boston, and her husband, Jeff, of Falcon, Missouri, Sarah Tudor, and her husband, Eric, of Lebanon, Missouri, and Lesley Roth, and her husband, Emanuel, of Grovespring, Missouri; two sons, Scott Bradley, and his wife, Sarah, of Falcon, Missouri, and Ives Bradley, and his wife, Susie, of Stoutland, Missouri; fifteen grandchildren; nine great-grandchildren; five sisters, Cleo Schmoney, of the State of Illinois, Jean Shepherd, of Somerset, Kentucky, Olvie Berry, of Oneida, Kentucky, Ethel Barrett, of Cincinnati, Ohio, and Delphi Bowling, of Austin, Indiana; a number of nieces and nephews; as well as a host of other relatives and many friends.
He was raised in Kentucky, and joined the military at a very early age. He served in the United States Army and in the United States Navy. He began a career in drywall construction in Michigan, and then moved to Ohio, where he met and married Patricia. Brad continued the drywall trade into several other states. Eventually, the family made their home in Dixon, Missouri for awhile before moving to the Lebanon area. They purchased a farm near Falcon, Missouri, where they raised Texas long horn cattle. In 1972, Brad founded Falcon Floor Covering and opened the store in Lebanon. He not only owned and operated the store, but he also did installation work for many years. The business is still in the operation of the family.
Brad professed his faith in Christ while he was living in Dixon, Missouri, and joined the Shepherd Baptist Church. He centered his life around his faith and his family. In recent years, he joined Wood Street Baptist Church where he was an active member.
In his spare time he enjoyed fishing, gardening, tracing his family genealogy, and going to gun shows. He was very proud of his Cherokee Indian heritage and loved Indian jewelry. He was very talented in making jewelry from stones which he found in various places. He possessed a keen sense of humor and enjoyed playing practical jokes. His family was very important to him and he especially enjoyed his grandchildren and great-grandchildren.
Brad was a loving husband, father, grandfather, great-grandfather, brother, uncle, and was a caring neighbor and friend. We celebrate his life and know that his family and friends will treasure the wonderful memories he made for them during his lifetime.
