Brenda Kay Woods (Seymour)'s Obituary
Brenda Kay Woods, daughter of Larry and Betty Greene, was born on August 31, 1964, at St. John’s Hospital in Springfield, Missouri, and departed this life on January 11, 2021, at Cox South Medical Center in Springfield at fifty-six years, four months and eleven days young.
She was united in marriage to Tom Woods on June 18, 1983, and to this union a daughter Ashley, and two sons, Zachary and Adam, were born.
Brenda was preceded in death by her sister Debbie Childress, sister-in-law Marsha Glenn, and father-in-law Tom Woods.
Brenda is survived by her husband of 37 years, Tom; their three children, Ashley Woods, Zach Woods and daughter-in-law Megan, and Adam Woods and wife Nicole, and two grandchildren, Isabella KayLynn and Jaxon Asher Gene – all of Fordland, Missouri; her parents Larry and Betty Greene; her siblings, Angie and Ben Owens, Larry and Cyndi Greene, Tammy and Steve Fitzpatrick, and Christy and Will Feeback; four brothers-in-law, Randall Childress, Lyle Glenn, Steven and Maureen Woods, and Bobby Woods, and two sisters-in-law, Missy Woods and Andrea Owens; numerous nieces and nephews; and her mother-in-law, Bonnie. She was born and raised in Fordland and a member of the Fordland High School Class of 1982. After marriage and while raising three kids, she attended SMSU and achieved a degree in education and later a master’s degree at SBU. In 1997, she started her career at Seymour Elementary School as a 4th grade teacher. Brenda went on to teach at Seymour Elementary for 23 years until retiring in May of 2020. Brenda loved each and every student who passed through her door. She took great pride in helping her students reach their full potential. Each of them had a very special place in her selfless heart. Brenda enjoyed life to its fullest. She enjoyed spending her time with her family. She especially enjoyed being Nana to her grandbabies. She loved summers at the lake, horseback riding, hiking, riding UTVs, camping, and fishing. Brenda would never turn down a Goodwill run and a Sam’s hot dog. She was always up for an adventure with her family. Brenda had deep roots in her faith and attended Cold Creek Cowboy Church in Ava, Missouri.
