Brendan Elliot Riggs (Lebanon)'s Obituary
Brendan Elliot Riggs, son of Duane and Gwen Turner Riggs, was born August 10, 1990, in Springfield, Missouri. He departed this life Sunday, January 3, 2016, in Mercy Hospital, in Springfield, Missouri, at the age of twenty-five years, four months, and twenty-three days.
He was preceded in death by his paternal grandparents, Johnny and Helen Riggs.
Brendan is survived by his parents, Duane and Gwen Riggs, of Lebanon, Missouri; two brothers, Jason Riggs, and his wife, Stefanie, and his twin, Ashton Riggs, all of Lebanon, Missouri; a sister, Kayla Blackburn, and her husband, Johnnie, of Linn Creek, Missouri; four nieces, Bailey, Keeley, Taylor, and Macee; one nephew, Sawyer Thomas; his maternal grandparents, Rex and Susie Turner, of Phillipsburg, Missouri; a number of aunts, uncles, and cousins; as well as a host of other relatives and many great friends.
He was raised in the Lebanon community, and attended Joel E. Barber Elementary and Lebanon High School. He later attended Crowder College and then studied at the Missouri Welding Institute in Nevada, Missouri, where he became a certified welder. He worked at various jobs for a time including in the oil fields in Oklahoma. He was currently a driver for M.F.A. Oil Propane Company.
Brendan was raised in the Catholic faith, and had attended St. Francis DeSales Catholic Church.
In his spare time he enjoyed being outdoors where he liked hunting, riding his motorcycle and hanging out with his friends. He was known as one of the “Bubs” and was often called “Ben” by many of his friends. He also enjoyed going to the gym, taking float trips and having bonfires with friends. He had a soft spot and fondness for stray dogs and was always bringing one home. His family was very important to him and he especially enjoyed his nieces and nephews.
Brendan was a loving son, brother, uncle, grandson, nephew, cousin, and was a good friend to so many. We celebrate his life and know that he will be fondly remembered and greatly missed by all those who knew and loved him.
Memorial contributions may be made to Lebanon Humane Society or Atchley (Blackfoot) Cemetery, and left at the funeral home.
