Bub Britton (Bolivar)'s Obituary
Loyd “Bub” Britton, age 52, of Bolivar, Missouri departed this life early Tuesday morning, July 8th, 2014 at his home in Bolivar.
Bub was born November 20, 1961 in Springfield, Missouri to Haskell and Dixie (Cates) Britton.
Bub graduated from Pleasant Hope High School and continued in the family masonry business until 2010.
He met his wife Kathy in October of 1998 and they were married in November of 1999. They were always “in love”, happy to be together, and both thought they “married up in the world”. Bub always teased Kathy by telling folks “it was her apple pie that I married her for”, and Kathy would reply “he’s my Prince Charming” and could never pick just one thing that she loved about him, there were just too many. Kathy believed that God erased the hurts of her past and gave her Bub to make sure they stayed away.
He loved horses his entire life and was very skillful in breaking and training them as a hobby. Fishing was never far from his mind and he never missed a chance to go with his father or friends where he made many great memories.
Bub absolutely adored children. He deeply loved all his grandkids but considered his oldest granddaughter, Brookelyn, the daughter he never had.
Bub was so close to his nephews and nieces; Logan, Alex, Joe, Britt, Kendra, Melinda, Ashley and Matt and continually worried for them and bragged on them. He loved all kids and felt a “family-like” connection to the Evans girls and all the Francka kids.
Loving God was so important to him and he accepted Christ from an early age. He was so thankful for his upbringing in a Christian home and his love for God grew daily.
Bub is survived by his wife, Kathy of the home; his parents, Haskell and Dixie Britton of Pleasant Hope; two brothers, Haskell “Hack” Britton of Pleasant Hope, and Kurt Britton and his wife Melissa of Bolivar; one sister, Shantra Tucker and her husband Rusty of Pleasant Hope; two Stepsons, P.J. McClure and his wife Tammy of Bolivar, and Neil Chambers and his wife Meghan of Springfield; one Stepdaughter, Felicia Prier and her husband Brian of Springfield; one brother in Law, Rick Seams and his wife Karen of Lebanon; four granddaughters, Brookelyn, Avery, Harlow, and Finley; one grandson, Ethan; and a host of aunts, uncles, nieces, nephews and friends.
Family was so important to Bub; he stated “I wasted a lot of years not saying I love you”. He made sure he told them often, until he went home to be with the Lord, and asked that you would do the same and tell yours that you love them.
