Buel L. Jemes (Lebanon)'s Obituary
Buel L. Jemes, son of Willie and Violet Layman Jemes, was born March 16, 1947, near Grovespring, Missouri. He departed this life Sunday, December 22, 2019, in his home, near Grovespring, Missouri, at the age of seventy-two years, nine months, and six days.
On April 18, 1965, he was united in marriage to Barbara A. Nelson and to this union two daughters and three sons were born.
He was preceded in death by his parents; an infant son, Bruce D. Jemes; and three brothers, Clifford, Clayton, and Eldon Jemes.
Buel is survived by his loving wife of fifty-four years, Barbara, of the home; two daughters, Bethany Elam, and her husband, Jesse, of Conway, Missouri, and Britany Boyer, and her husband, Lance, of Hartville, Missouri; two sons, Bradley Jemes, and his wife, Carol, of Morgan, Missouri, and Brandon Jemes, and his wife, April, of Grovespring, Missouri; eleven grandchildren; seven great-grandchildren; a brother, Clinton Jemes, and his wife, Venita, of Grovespring, Missouri; three sisters, Loretta Jones, of Falcon, Missouri, Marie Klien, of Richland, Missouri, and Carol Nelson, and her husband, Lonnie, of Grovespring, Missouri; a number of nieces and nephews; as well as a host of other relatives and friends.
He lived his entire life in the Grovespring, Missouri area. After he and Barbara were married, they made their home near Grovespring and lovingly raised their family. Buel was employed by the H. D. Lee Company for several years and then worked for Associated Groceries. For most of his life he was a heavy equipment operator and did excavation work.
Buel professed his faith in Christ at the age of fifty-five and attended Mount Zion (Cuba) Freewill Baptist Church.
In his spare time he enjoyed being outdoors where he liked to fish and hunt. He had an interesting sense of humor and was the mischievous member of the family.
Buel was a loving husband, father, grandfather, great-grandfather, brother, uncle, and was a caring friend. We celebrate his life and know that he will be fondly remembered and greatly missed by all those who knew and loved him.
Memorial contributions to the Gideon Ministry may be made through the funeral home.
Memorial services will be held Friday, Dec. 27 at 6 p.m. at Hillcrest Baptist Church in Lebanon. Visitation will follow the service. Burial will be held at a later date in Mt. Zion (Cuba) Cemetery.
