Burnetta grew up on her parents’ homestead on the Wyoming prairie where they raised winter wheat. She attended a one-room schoolhouse near Wheatland, Wyoming until moving with her family to Arkansas. Burnetta met Hall K. at the Benton County Fair in Arkansas and immediately knew she had met the man with whom she wanted to spend the rest of her life. Burnetta and Hall K. dated for five years until the banks crashed, at which point her family moved back to Wyoming. Hall K. drove to Wyoming in search of Burnetta, and when he found her, the young couple eloped to Harrisburg, Nebraska.
They worked together for many years on their wheat farms before moving back to Arkansas where they owned a car dealership. Throughout the years they enjoyed traveling, visiting all fifty states and all of the continents except Antarctica. Burnetta was also a member of the Jolly Dry Farmers in Wyoming, and the Merry Matrons in Arkansas.
She had attended Methodist and Baptist churches throughout her life.
Burnetta and Hall K. raised four daughters and had a very loving marriage for sixty-years until his death in 2001. Even after that sudden loss, she was never alone. She spent the rest of her days surrounded by the love of her daughters and the rest of her family.
Burnetta was a loving mother, grandmother, great-grandmother, great-great-grandmother, and aunt, and was a caring neighbor and friend. We celebrate her life and accomplishments and will treasure the many wonderful memories she has created for her family and many friends.
