Calvin McLaine (Lebanon)'s Obituary
Calvin Ray McLaine, son of John Ray and Helen Genevieve Avery McLaine, was born February 19, 1928, in Miola, Pennsylvania. He departed this life Monday, December 18, 2017, in Cox Medical Center South, in Springfield, Missouri, at the age of eighty-nine years, nine months, and twenty-nine days.
On October 15, 1961, he was united in marriage to Betty Lou Nunnaley, who passed away on June 14, 2014.
On April 17, 2017, he married Sandy Furey and they shared the last eight months.
He was also preceded in death by his parents; two sons, Matthew Warren McLaine, and Randolph Wyatt; a brother, Richard McLaine; and two sisters, Maudia Frankilin, and Phyllis Wassom.
Calvin is survived by his wife, Sandy, of the home; two step-daughters, Karen Horne, of Hermitage, Missouri, and Betsy Rider, of Yuma, Arizona; two daughters; one son; a number of grandchildren and great-grandchildren; a sister, Judith Hamby, and her husband, Kenneth, of the State of Pennsylvania; several nieces and nephews; as well as a host of other relatives and friends.
He was born and raised in Pennsylvania and then entered the military as a young man. He served his country faithfully in the United States Navy during World War II and for a number of years before retiring. He had been stationed in California, Arizona, Texas, Oklahoma, and Missouri. He eventually settled in Lebanon, Missouri, and made his home with Betty. For the last several months he and Sandy had lived near Lebanon. After retiring from the Navy, Calvin worked in leather goods, and made beautiful boots.
Calvin had made his profession of faith in Christ and was a member of Community of Christ Church near Lebanon.
In his spare time he enjoyed watching television, and doing leather projects. His family was very important to him.
Calvin was a loving husband, father, grandfather, great-grandfather, brother, uncle, and was a caring neighbor and friend. We celebrate his life and his patriotic service and know that he will be fondly remembered and greatly missed by all of his family and friends.
