Candace Harmon- Willard's Obituary
Candace Sue Harmon, daughter of Bill Don and Louise Irene Potter Willard, was born January 9, 1956, in Lebanon, Missouri. She departed this life Sunday, September 28, 2008, in Cox Medical Center South, in Springfield, Missouri, at the age of fifty-two years, eight months, and nineteen days. On March 29, 1975, she was united in marriage to Henry Theodore “Ted” Harmon, and to this union one daughter and one son were born. Her father preceded her in death. Candy is survived by her husband, Ted, of the home; a daughter, Amy Harmon, and her husband, Ryan Van Bibber, of Springfield, Missouri; a son, Matthew Harmon, of Lawrence, Kansas; her mother, Louise Willard, of Sleeper, Missouri; two brothers, Bradley Willard, and his wife, Sandy, and David Willard, and his wife, Andrea, all of Sleeper, Missouri; three sisters, Susan Foster, and her husband, John, of Springfield, Missouri, Kim McCabe, and her husband, Mike, of Lebanon, Missouri, and Mary Williams, and her husband, Carl, of Lebanon, Missouri; several nieces and nephews; her father-in-law and mother-in-law, Hank and Marge Harmon, of Lebanon, Missouri; a number of aunts, uncles, and cousins; as well as a host of other relatives and many friends. She was raised in the Sleeper community and was graduated from Stoutland High School as the Valedictorian of the Class of 1973. She then earned her Bachelors Degree in Education from Missouri State University in Springfield, and her Masters Degree in Science and her Specialist Degree, both from Missouri University in Columbia. During this time, Candy and Ted were married, made their home in the Lebanon area, and began raising their two children. Candy started a career as the special education instructor for the Waynesville Schools, and then taught, and was the Process Coordinator, for the Camdenton School District before becoming the Assistant Director of the Lake Ozark Development Center. She next helped establish Elder Care Home Health in the Lebanon area, and was the administrator of Balanced Care South in Lebanon. She eventually returned to the field of education and was the Process Coordinator for the Lebanon R-III School System for a few years, before transferring to the Stoutland Schools where she was the Special Services Director until 2008. Candy was an active member of Sleeper United Methodist Church where she had served as a Sunday school teacher and worked in the Bible School program. She greatly enjoyed her church family and the children that she taught. She was a very creative person who enjoyed quilting and weaving, and was a master gardener. She also liked to travel with her friends. Candy loved her family dearly, and she and her mother had a very close relationship and greatly enjoyed doing things together. Candy was a loving wife, mother, daughter, sister, and aunt, and was a kind and caring neighbor and friend. We celebrate her life and all of her accomplishments and will cherish the wonderful memories she created for her family, students, fellow teachers, and many, many friends Services will be held at 2:00 pm on Thursday October 2, 2008 at the Holman- Howe Funeral Home, Lebanon. Burial will be in the Lebanon Cemetery. Friends may call at the Funeral Home at their Convenience under the direction of the Holman- Howe Funeral Home Lebanon Missouri. A memorial has been established to the Sleeper United Methodist Church or the Stoutland High School student scholarship fund. Donations may be made through the funeral home. Return to top
