Carl Barr's Obituary
Carl Eugene Barr, son of Raymond Alva and Mildred Marie Long Barr, was born October 21, 1941 in Hartville, Missouri. He departed this life Friday, May 18, 2012 in Mercy Hospital, Springfield, Missouri at the age of seventy years, six months, and twenty-seven days.
On April 24, 1965, Carl was united in marriage to Freda Mae Shaver and to this union two children were born.
He was preceded in death by his parents; sister, Wilma Myers, and two nephews, Bruce Garland and David Barr.
Carl is survived by his wife, Freda of the home; son, Faron Barr and wife Grace Ann of Topeka, Kansas; daughter, Teresa McKinney and husband Donald of Rowlett, Texas; his granddaughters, Lauren Barr, and Christie, Sarah, and Kayla Everett; his siblings, Alva Barr and wife Nadine of Hartville, Missouri, Joella Garland and husband L.D. of Hartville, Missouri and Leonard Barr of Pattensburg, Missouri; a brother-in-law John Myers of Hartville, Missouri; a number of nieces and nephews, along with a host of other relatives and many dear friends.
Carl was born in Hartville and attended Little Creek Grade School. He was a graduate of Hartville High School in the Class of 1960. After he and Freda were married, they made their home in Springfield where he worked for Mid-Am Dairy and later transferred to the Lebanon plant after moving back to Hartville in 1970. Carl owned and operated a dairy cattle farm from April 3, 1976 until his retirement on October 15, 1999.
Carl remained busy even in his retirement years, whether it was working on the various items that his friends had brought to him to be fixed, or one of his many inventions; this was his way of slowing down. He served on the board for the Little Creek Cemetery, enjoyed shooting his guns, growing tomatoes, and maintained a healthy sense of humor. His Great-Pyrenees “Jake” was his best friend.
Carl had accepted Christ as his Lord and Savior at an early age and was a lifelong member of the Shaddy Chapel Church of Christ.
Carl was a loving husband, father, grandfather, brother, and uncle, and was a caring neighbor and friend. We celebrate his life and accomplishments and will treasure the many wonderful memories he has created for his family and many dear friends.
Funeral services for Carl will be at 1 pm Tuesday May 22, in Holman-Howe funeral-Home, Hartville, Missouri, with buiral to follow in Little Creek Cemetery, north of Hartville.
Visitation will be Monday evening May 21, 7-8:30 pm in the Funeral-Home.
