She was born and raised in rural Douglas County and graduated from Ava High School in the Class of 1960. After she and Arnold married, they moved to Mansfield where she was employed at Tobin-Hamilton Shoe Factory for most of her working years. Later she held several other factory jobs and retired from the Laura Ingalls Wilder Historic Home and Museum as a tour guide. While always having a full-time job, she continued to be a dedicated wife and homemaker raising her children. She was also a faithful pastor’s wife for over 20 years.
Carol gave her life to the Lord as a young adult and was a current member of Berean Baptist Church in Springfield. She had been very active in the various churches where Arnold pastored.
In her spare time, she loved gardening, sewing, and refinishing antique furniture with Arnold.
Carol was a loving and devoted wife, mother, grandmother, great-grandmother, sister, aunt, and a caring neighbor and friend. We celebrate her life and will always cherish the many special memories we had together.
